    • Off the shelf smart bathroom mirror - repurpose to magic mirror

Hello all. I’m new here, first post.
I have been wanting to make a magic mirror, most likely a photobooth to start. However, I quickly became discourage with the high cost of the glass. (say for a 40" tv)

Just curious if anyone has considered or attempted to use the off the shelf smart bathroom mirrors (sold on ebay and amazon) and repurpose the two way glass for a magic mirror project? (adding digitizer and large monitor) The price seems cheap ($300 for 47x23" ) and free shipping. I’m assuming the whole area of glass on these units is transparent. It is late, and I needed to bounce the idea off of those who may have been down this road. thanks,

    • Mirror film between glass layers

I have done much comparison (pros and cons) of using a film vs. acrylic vs, magic glass.
For a touch Photobooth mirror on of the main cons of film is it won’t last. (as it it being touched constantly)

Just wondering if anyone has considered and tried sandwiching the film with an additional layer of cheap clear class. (i.e. lcd screen + clear glass, mirror film, clear glass, ir touch digitizer). Obviously the film option will not be as clear as high dollar magic glass, but the sandwich idea seems like it would extend longevity.
