im taking it cant be done on raspberry pi . if there is no module for it right ?

@dave462 Hi.
The build of the “Mirror” is up to you. All the software does is provide a modular display. Many people just build out a screen without a “mirror” face.
Take a look through https://github.com/MichMich/MagicMirror/wiki/3rd-Party-Modules for things you can do with it without programming your own module.
When you install the software, I highly recommend using the scripts at https://github.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts - the rest of the documentation ( https://docs.magicmirror.builders/ ) is great.
Feel free to look at https://forum.magicmirror.builders/category/12/show-your-mirror for building ideas, and hunt through the rest of the forum for other ideas.
I don’t know of an amber alert module specifically, however, someone else may be able to chime in on that.
Enjoy the fun of designing.

@dave462 no. all you can know is it doesn’t exist at the moment. until you know what it takes, you can’t answer any other questions.
is there a public API to the info?
is it free or cost money
can you program to the API, or do you need some other skilled individual to do it?I havent done any investigation on this as I don’t need/want that on my mirror. (no mirror glass)
I got it on my phone, and haven’t had a nearby alert in over 20 years -
@BKeyport Just to reiterate what @BKeyport said, the Mirror part of Magic Mirror doesn’t do justice to the multitude of projects and designs people come up with.
You want to put your calendar/schedule where you can see it and be reminded of things you need to do, Magic Mirror.
Want a visual display of the weather where you live, Magic Mirror.
Some of the things folks come up with are really exceptional.
BUT… there is more to it than slapping a bunch of blocks (modules) together and done.
Some of these MM’s border on digital art they are so well done.
There is ample help but no one is going to build it for you. -
i didnt say i wasnt going to put two side mirror on it . i said for right now just dont have cow here now. all i was doing to see if there was a module out there . being rude not the way to here didnt say if someone can build it for me
-
@dave462 You need a Raspberry PI, micro SD card to install Pi OS, then you install MM software. You need a monitor. WiFi Mouse and Keyboard so you can plug fob into Pi, interact with the Magic Mirror software.
Once that is up and running then you can address an Amber Alert module. -
FWIW,
Right now, there isn’t an official way to “programmatically” pull AmberAlert data from either AmberAlert.gov or the National Center for Missing Children.
An unofficial service with a RESTful API is available at www.missingkidsbot.org that parses the RSS feed from missingkids.org similar to what is outlined below.
