Version 2.30.0 Calendar fix for clipping broadcast events
-
@angeliKITTYx
i do not knowfor debug purposes
edit config.js and add
,"DEBUG"to the logLevel parms at the top
stop (if using pm2, pm2 stop all)
and MANUALLY start MM like this
cd ~/MagicMirror npm start >somefile.txt 2>&1wait til some time, and then ctrl-c on the command prompt where u did the manual start
edit the config.js back to remove the debug parm
the file will be large with all the calendars being processed
you can’t upload that here, and I would normally ask to email it to me.
I don’t know if email will take that large a file… you can try… my same userid as here at gmailbecause the FULL urls of the calendars are shown in the log, I don’t want that posted in clear text anywhere…
I suggest uploading somewhere and emailing or direct message me the url
I did extensive work on the calendar to fix these problems on this release.
so I am very interested in the problemyou can look thru the file, its just text and you will see the timezone reported as it processes calendar events.

@sdetweil so I decided to do a clean install of my MM, and the timezone thing fixed itself. However, it’s still not displaying all of my calendars. Two show up immediately, one shows up after the refreshinterval, and the rest don’t show up at all. I tried re-entering all of the private ical URLs, but those didn’t change anything. The log still shows it’s pulling x events from each URL, but they’re not displaying. Did you still want me to email you the logs?
-
@angeliKITTYx no you fixed the event date problem
so another test is to add a position to the default cal module and see if you see the events there
you did npm install in the ext3 module folder right?
he has a sub module that needs to be installed -
@angeliKITTYx and another question. how did you upgrade?
you on pi or windows or?
-
@sdetweil It’s on pi.
I used these instructions, and I also did the “Not Working?” section.
-
@angeliKITTYx no, i meant upgrade MagicMirror
-
@sdetweil I deleted it off my Pi and then followed the Manual Install. Then I reinstalled all of my modules. It was a fresh install - I didn’t upgrade it.

-
@angeliKITTYx i meant before, when you had the troubles
-
@sdetweil I used the command on the MM documents page
git pull && npm run install-mmBut I always had to remove the package-lock.json and package.json too
-
@angeliKITTYx ok… I wish more would use my upgrade script…
it fixes problems you all report as we go along… -

I just tried it now and it’s not working since I’m in the fix clipping branch. It’s asking me to confirm branch.
-
@angeliKITTYx yes,
there are new steps if on a non-master branch
rm package-lock.json git checkout masterbut you have lost the clipping fix (or develop branch)
my upgrade script will put you back on master (seen as how thats where next release will land you)
in the meantime, you should not need to pull again on current version, nothing changed
if u want to npm install MM again (altho nothing has changed)
donpm run install-mm -
@sdetweil Where is the new script? I can’t find it in your posts…
-
@cheminge all my stuff is here
install/upgrade ( referenced in the MagicMirror install doc , alternatives)
backup/restore
-
@sdetweil not sure what happened, but I added events to the calendars that weren’t showing up to try and troubleshoot, and now they’re all populated properly… Thanks for all your help with this. Now it’s on to fixing the weather widget.

Patch works perfect on Raspberry pi 3 B+, TYSM.

Hi,
the Ext3 module is showing events but only on 7 days including today. All following events are missing, although they show up in the default calendar module.I installed the fix, but the error is still there.
Does anyone have an idea?
{ module: "MMM-CalendarExt3", position: "bottom_bar", title: "", config: { waitFetch: 5000, mode: "week", weekIndex: 0, weeksInView: 3, instanceId: "basicCalendar", locale: "de-DE", maxEventLines: 5, firstDayOfWeek: 1, calendarSet: ['Family'], } },Best
