      @mumblebaj yes, those prompts are problematic.

      i pipe all the output to the log during scripted install
      and set the option -y, reply yes

      well it doesn’t affect THOSE prompts, so upgrade and install hang. i’ve had to stop being nice and let all the junk fly by.
      and most of the users dont have a clue what to answer.

      but i cant ask different questions and feed the answers.
      sad.

        @sdetweil As was expected, my screen on and screen off scripts no longer work. I will have a look at them today and see if I can get them to work with Labwc else I will switch back to Wayfire. Will advise after I have had a chance to look at them.

        First have to give the boss his time today then I can play…😉

          @mumblebaj , @sdetweil ,
          any idea, advise what will happen if updating bookworm while NOT using wayfire but X11 (because wayfire doesn’t work even in the earlier bookworm I had reconfigure to X11 in raspi-config)?

          Thanks for any hint.

          Regards,
          Ralf

            @rkorell I just switched back to Wayfire now and it works fine for me. I am running Pi5. When I tested X11 the screen blanking did not work for me. I have been reading around Labwc and wlopm but have seen a lot of people having issues with Labwc. I will test it later today but for now I have switched back to Wayfire.

              I still take my mirror displays and put them back into X11 mode. It’s what I understand, it’s what allows me to do what I want to do.

              The "E" in "Javascript" stands for "Easy"

                So from your perspective X11 still does work?

                Thanks and regards,

                  @BKeyport X11 does not work for me, hence I use Wayfire. As Labwc is supposed to be the newer lighter compositor, I would like to get that to work for me.

                    @mumblebaj @rkorell and rumor has it x11 is gone next release

                    edit: seems rumors are not true for trixie (next release code name)
                    thanks everyone

                      @sdetweil I did not see it mentioned for trixie, but that is possible.

                        bad news :-(

                        But may things becomes better and the wayland implementation is better in Trixie than in Bookworm…

                          @rkorell Just read that X11 is still there in Trixie. So no stress yet, but yes, it is old and may be on it’s way out one of these good ol days.

                            @mumblebaj

                            Thanks for information!

                            I currently stay with x11 because - at least in my configuration - I wasn’t able to use wayland …
                            If this becomes better in further releases I simply would switch…
                            Regards,

                              @sdetweil So, I have not seen any issues thus far other than having to figure out the screen blanking for me on Labwc, I have to test the wlopm, but for now I have switched back to Wayfire. No other issues in logs etc.
