@thomaslc my name is Sam (i have that as my signature)

      i watched your video… very weird…

open a terminal window , ctrl-alt-T, and then do
      pm2 status,
      pm2 logs
u will have to ctrl-c to end that
      pm2 stop 0,
      pm2 start 0

it LOOKS like pm2 starts WHILE still booting… I haven’t seen that on any of my systems…

@thomaslc during the install, it should have asked you if you wanted pm2 to be used to start the mirror app…

@thomaslc easiest thing to do is rename the MagicMirror folder to MagicMirror.save

in linux the rename command is mv

            then run my installer again

            see https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/10171/anyone-want-to-try-updated-installer
            for the url to use

@thomaslc are u doing this over vpn or ssh?

i use ssh, and then the display on my real machine shows the MagicMirror UI, while the ssh session is still active…

cause it is old, doesn’t handle a bunch of things… which is why I am doing the updated version…
once tested I will submit mine to replace the one on the MM site

@thomaslc while I test the installer, u could use the pm2 only script

see instructions here , fix already added

                                  https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/10907/new-script-to-install-fix-pm2-config-for-start-on-boot

installer also tested and restarts on boot… have to delete the MagicMirror folder again if u go this way

@thomaslc sure… and the output of

                                      pm2 logs --lines=100

my email is the same userid as here on gmail…

and there is some startup problem… cause pm2 thinks the mirror is running,
and then u do npm start AGAIN… but you should get output some output…
