Thanks ! Thats the process I have been using . Painstaking. Small details always cause errors. Even if I cut and paste right from the github repository using the authors code.

@BD0G yeh, sometimes/many times they don’t check their doc …

        not THAT painstaking

thing on the left of the colon doesn’t need quotes, only words on the right

if something follows something else, the something else better have a trailing comma

I may have found a better way to do the node/npm setup… testing now

it allows node 10 on jesse…

thanks for the trouble report so I could think about the problem

@bdream i don’t think it will run in the CYGWIN or MINW environments

you will have to do the manual install

                    see the instructions here https://github.com/MichMich/MagicMirror#manual-installation

this also requires sudo, to install nodejs
if you succeed, let me know what you did (step by step) and I will consider updating the installer

@bdream CYGWIN and MINW don’t allow sudo operations, as they don’t control the machine directly

if u have windows 10, you could install the ubuntu support, MM will install and run (in serveronly mode) there.

@swvalenti the code is doing a

                                            pgrep "node"

                                            to test, do

                                            ps -ef | grep node

so, they are usually running as /usr/bin/node, killall won’t kill those
