MagicMirror Authenticator
-
I’ve been wondering if it’s a good idea having the MM display 2FA auth codes?
-
@krisalexroberts for??? in my house, there is only me… and occasionally my daughter, the info I show is not protected
how would u enter the 2fa code? mirror has no keyboard…
-
I don’t mean that, I mean that it displays the Authenticator codes for other platforms, like Facebook, Google, Amazon codes. Like the Google and MS Authenticator apps do.
-
@krisalexroberts eh? i don’t see any of those?? is this a new logon thing?
-
What do you mean? If you use 2FA you’ll be familiar with the concept of codes being displayed
-
@krisalexroberts I got 2fa, but not codes being displayed as a general purpose thing
-
@sdetweil what do you mean? I have a small magic mirror in my private office. Instead of opening my phone to see codes they could be displayed on the mirror
-
Hmm. Interesting idea.
Work has given me an RSA security fob which provides a 2FA code all the time. For my personal use, I use the Yubico Authenticator both on PC and mobile, but I’ve used Google’s and Microsoft’s mobile app before.
There’s not really a practical difference between displaying the rolling code on a mirror and having the app taking up space on my desktop. I know nothing about how the 2FA apps are implemented so I don’t know where to begin on making a module for it.
Sounds like a neat project.
