      @sdetweil does it mean I have to do in MagicMirror folder?

      sudo git fetch --all
      sudo git reset --hard origin/master
      sudo git pull origin master

        @bdream no. u are probably missing some modules that mm removed

        read the startup messages

        npm start
        or
        if using pm2
        pm2 logs --lines=100

          @bdream I strongly guess that one of the 3rd party modules is not compatible vith MM2.16.0. I had the same issues with MMM-MyCalendar, which caused a black screen after starting MM. My approach is to disable all 3rd party modules by adding the line

          disabled: true;

          for each module and enable it one after the other by setting it to

          disabled: false;

          Taht might discover quicker, which module is the culprit instead of poking in logs (that is my personal approach!).

          When you found the module, that causes issues, contact the developer on github, or look for an alternative fork which seems to be maintained.

          Regarding the above mentioned MMM-MyCalendar module, I reverted to the default calendar module, which works just fine and delivers the same features.

              @sdetweil okay, I’m going to try with messages.

              So it looks to me as MMM-DWD-Pollen will be the problem.
              That is faster, than going with disabled: true; and disabled: false; over all my modules :crossed_fingers: even it was a guess with the related module to me.

              @Fozi now i have to see how to deal with your statement “When you found the module, that causes issues, contact the developer on github, or look for an alternative fork which seems to be maintained.”

              Comment out this module in config and it works again.

              Many thanks for your fast help!!!

                I tried it again. Now the electron does not even start.

                > magicmirror@2.16.0 start
                > DISPLAY="${DISPLAY:=:0}" ./node_modules/.bin/electron js/electron.js

                sh: 1: ./node_modules/.bin/electron: not found

                I tried to re-install electron with "sudo npm install electron@latest
                ", but no change.

                  @bdream so you need to go to the
                  MMM-DWD-Pollen folder and do
                  npm install request --save

                      I got electron installed again with specifying a version (sudo npm install electron@6.1.12). No idea, why electron disappeared in the first place.

                      @Fozi

                      The MMM-MyCalender has indeed an issue with 2.16. causing a black screen. And MMM-Fuel is saying “undefined” for an unknown reason. Both modules are disabled for now.

                      My MM boots and shows the all other modules again.

                      With each MM update something crashes, mostly one of the 3rd party modules because one or more dependencies are lost/changed or deleted.

                      Thanks for your help. Great community!

                          @andyyy i see you have npm version 7 installed… causes quite a few problems…

                          I would fall back to npm 6

                              @andyyy sudo npm install -g npm@6.14.3

                              you will then have to cleanup from 7

                              cd ~/MagicMirror
                              rm -rf node_modules
                              npm install

                              u may have to do the same in any module folder with a package.json file

                                made it with npm install -g npm@6.14.14.

                                I still have issues with the default wheater module. The old “currentweather” module works but new default “weather” module just says “loading”.

                                  @andyyy I would look in the window where u start mm

                                  npm start or pm2

                                  if pm2, the pm2 logs --lines=100

                                  for any messages

                                  loading is the default output til data arrives.
                                  so it didn’t get the content from the api

                                  is that forecast u are waiting for?
                                  there is a timing issue, workaround with setting
                                  (look it up for exact spelling)
                                  initialLoadDelay:100

                                    I screwed up my MM entirely. pm2 crashed randomly for an unkown reason.

                                    When did “npm intall” on all modules after the update to 2.16, mostly npm complaints about some vulnerabilites. So I did “npm audit fix” on all them all. Maybe some dependencies broke rather than being fixed.

                                    Another thing; npm complaint that 2.16 is uncompatible with node 10.x and npm version. So upgraded both to the latest one.

                                    Mostly like all that ruined my MM.

                                    Thus, I loaded back last working backup and just did “npm install” on all modules. Npm is still complaints about the node version, but all module run except MMM-MyCalender which seems to be uncompatible with 2.16.

                                            @andyyy valid-url was removed in 2.16 as the library it uses was also removed…
                                            but you can add it back for this module

                                            cd ~/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-MyCalendar
                                            npm init

                                            hit enter thru the prompts

                                            npm install valid-url --save

                                            the author should fix the module, but many authors are no longer maintaining their modules
