I thought i’d be best to open a feed and update on the progress, now i appear to finally have the appropriate hardware.
Actually i ordered RPi3 the day i stumbled across this forum, however that STILL has not arrived, the blighters sent a screen last time in error (which i get to keep so not all bad…).
Whilst waiting i mentioned previously i’d soft install on my mac book air and had a Mac Book Pro or a old Mac Mini laying around for a permanent home…
However i bought a Android box, which i ended up donating to the local kids charity, after finding was of no use, and was then recommend the Z64 which is now sitting on the floor and of no use at all, pre installed with Windows, tried installing linux, was having none of it, tried reverting to windows 10 a week trying to install, tried android was not having it, and even though Minix tech support tried to help ultimately the system (bios) is so jerry rigged that to get Windows back on it, it would need to be sent back to them, as i am in Thai that is at least a month there and back to HK…
And it turns out even though sold as 64bit, its 32bit based bios and the system (windows can only be 32bit) thus of no use for Google Globe (name lost on me).
Thus after wasting 2 + weeks, stuck, and spending in excess of 280.00 i thought sod it, i wont even chance the old mac mini and went to each of the 4 apple stores on the island in search of the mac mini, just as the last one was closing they stated they only had the top model (damn) and they sent a rider who came back 10 mins later from i guess their warehouse, and finally i am moving forward.
I’d like to do two things with the mini though encase anyone wants to jump in.
#Run MM + our own hook ups etc
#Run via another output as a in table touch computer (i can figure that all out later), but would love know if anyone knows the most optimal way to have its feeds out from MM to display separate (i guess GUI processes) i’d appreciate any pointers.
I will update this daily now i have a fixed device.
Mac Mini & Minix Neo Z64
New Apple Smell
Now as mentioned throughout i am clueless to Mac Terminal so do come unstuck here and there but pick up quickly.
Oh some other stuff i bought along the way (actually there is a hell of a lot more stuff coming) here though also Leap Motion, which is handy as i was not looking forward to integrating it with Linux
sensors x 6
Home Auto x another 20 ordered
Lcd screen (RPi3 company i bought from screwed up and sent this instead, now sending a RPi3 but get to keep…).
Extension board etc set
Just for the record it appears
Manual Installation on the manual installation that with the Mac Mini that it is different to Mac Air as that was straight forward.
“Enter the repository: cd ~/MagicMirror
Install and run the app: npm install && npm start”
@MichMich would you mind letting me know where i may be going wrong?

@wjdw87 At a guess, it looks like the package manager
npmis not installed on your Mac.
@bhepler makes sense as brand new, will attempt to install now! - Many thanks
Layout - > Having one stumbling point though… Need a way to split the system between two screens, one for data feeds (generic) and one for interactivity).
Has anyone split the system between multiple screens ?

Reddit user Comm4nd0 has just released his code for his AI.
The link includes a video with a demonstration of its capabilities. Looks pretty impressive!

In our last video, we showed you how to build a raspberry pi smart mirror: https://youtu.be/fkVBAcvbrjU
In this video, we show you how to give that smart mirror a personal artificial intelligence. The artificial intelligence has facial recognition, speech recognition, and can respond to a variety of commands. Those commands include: weather, holidays, greetings, compliments, maps, and more. You can also have it respond to you by name and configure your own launch phrase. Since the NLU (natural language understanding) is built off the popular wit.ai engine, you can train it to be even smarter.
All of the code and brief text instructions can be found on our Github repository: https://github.com/HackerHouseYT/AI-S…
This is the site we used to train the bot’s intent detection: Wit.ai
Our goal was to draw inspiration from this project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc9Ub… Check it out for another interesting take on smart mirror AI.
