Yes the art forwarding was yesterday here, however his transporter was not adequately prepared. That was then too uncertain to give him the mirrors. He will build a device tomorrow to safely transport the mirrors. The security of your mirrors is the most important!

        HI together,

I got today the mirror through the brilliant delivery queue of lolobyte- many thanks again to you also to Chris.
I’m just wondering if it is normal that the mirror is more a “colored glas”, both sides seams mostly the same and the reflection is quite dimmed. It looks a little bit like looking with sunglasses in a regular mirror… any hints?

It is very important that the foiled side is the outer side. It is correct that the two sides look very similar, but as soon as a side of the mirror is completely darkened, the difference is visible.

Have the mirrors been picked up yet by the art forwarder? The guy called me last week just to tell me to call me again last Sunday to determine the actual delivery. So far I haven’t gotten a call back.

Yes the mirrors were picked up today. He goes first to Berlin. He will contact everyone else for an appointment. During the next week, all will be delivered. My garage is now empty :)

The shipping company says that the tour program for next week is not yet finished. But all mirrors are delivered next week, the sequence of the cities is only not fixed yet. They will inform you on Saturday (@Ali Baba and @ferby09 already know, as these mirrors are still delivered tomorrow)

I also wonder that there are unfortunately no pictures yet. Here are a few new photos of me at different times of the day (daylight, room lighting, dark) to shorten the waiting time. I baptized the glass “MagicGlass” :D

I opened the crate, checked the mirror glass for any damage (no damage found  ) and closed the crate again to avoid any impact on the glass.
And I’m pretty sure no one wants to see unboxing pictures

I’m sure, of the 35 delivered mirrors is one or the other mirror already in use ;)

@Goldjunge_Chriz what sort of display do you use for your mirror?

I have got my glass from @Woody, the pickup was smooth, perfectly packaged, all is well. The performance, I’m not completely 100% convinced yet… it is way better than my previous mirror film solution, but quite a lot darker than a “normal” mirror that hangs in the same room, even when the display behind it is turned off. With the display on, the backlight of the LCD makes the reflection a bit less prominent still. I presume an AMOLED would be ideal for this with a perfect black, but any backlit LCD is going to give off some light on its black areas.

The mirror is facing with the protective film side outwards, the unprotected side towards the screen. Protective film is of course removed :)

I’ve taken a few pictures of it, it actually looks a bit better in the pictures than it does IRL:

(ignore the wires and the lack of a frame, it’s very much at prototype stage still)

@olexs now, I don’t have this glass on my mirror, but in my experience the reflection part will become much better when there is no light coming from the back as it does now! :) (Even the tiniest amount of light from the other side lessen the reflection!)

@broberg You mean the small bit on the left side of the mirror? I’ll cover than with a black backpane then, if that makes such a difference. Otherwise, all the light coming in behind is from the monitor only, 3 of edges are flush to the monitor frame (I made a mistake when taking the original measurements, the mirror is 1cm too wide… but that I can live with, the frame will cover the edges eventually).

@olexs it actually looks like there is a space between the glass and the monitor frame, but I could be wrong :)

@broberg No, the mirror sits on the metal of the LCD panel framing, held in place (temporarily) with some tape. There might be some very tiny space between them where the frame isn’t perfectly even - I guess I could try putting some black foam or paper in between there to have the mirror pressed on as flush as possible. Ultimately, I think I’ll have to build the frame sooner rather than later - that will completely cover the sides and ~1cm of the front on each edge, there should be no room for any light bleed from the outside after that.

I use a Led monitor from the manufacturer dell.

The degree of reflection depends, of course, also on the light conditions in the room. A perfect mirror for all possible exposure modes is not available due to the special effect. The effect of a spy mirror comes through the refinement and therefore there are so many different transmission values. A spy mirror can and will never be an exact copy of an “normal” mirror. But this Spy mirror is the best mirror I’ve seen so far and I’ve really tested a lot. It simply offers the best compromise of all application types. You can’t buy a car that has 1000 hp and only 2 liters of petrol consumption ;)That can not even be built by the worlds best car manufacturer, if you understand what I mean :) the mixture is the most important ;)

Does your room have daylight? Can you adjust the lamps? You just have to play a Little with the light conditions :) your picture confuses me also because the font Looks so blue. In my mirror it is for example absolutely white. Please try some different Settings until you find the best solution for you :)
