Yeah, I always thought that should be added to the Tutorial for people to see… also to back up your config.js file and your custom.css file whenever you make additions ( saves you another whole world of pain should you accidentally erase some info, or whatever…)
sd cards are really really fragile, and the actual card you use is really important for all the read/write it does… you need one that is man enough for all the work it has to do… but like anything else, even the best of the best, costing lots more, can and does break suddenly eh?
There is plenty info online about what is the best cards to use on a Pi, and tells you why.
Yup, definitely lesson learned. I don’t think the entire SD card is toast, I will know more tonight. Because I can see when I put it in the computer the boot files and what not, but there are a bunch of corrupted files on there. I decided it was easier to just reformat the card and start over, rather than try and dig and see what broke. I am REALLY hoping the card is fine, and I have learned another valuable lesson as well.
I am using my Pi for a MULTITUDE of different purposes. I have Kodi, Retropie, and Raspian all installed on the same Pi. Then I was trying to install Plex Media Server on the same Pi, which I think honestly was a bad idea. I think from now on, it is going to be one Pi for one purpose, which should increase the lifespan of everything.

Yeah… s’pose we all have to feck up to learn by our mistakes.
Im also running Kodi - Retropi - Raspbian on another Pi… you musta got the link from a post of mines since I introduced that on here?
I did think back then that adding anything else to that build would be pushing the Pi to its absolute limit, as just having MM in the background and using Raspbian, having several browser tabs open, on this Pi, things can get a bit slow and sluggish…
So yeah, I think it is best having MM Pi simply for MM only… and just have another Pi for all else. The Pi is just not man enough to multitask eh? ;-)
I think it was your post that turned me on to it. I think this time when I re-install, it is just going to be Retropie and Raspian (I am using my mirror on my bigscreen as a family dashboard). I have a Firestick running Kodi and honestly, it is fine to do that.
Down the road, I may get another Pi and run the Plex Media Server and just dedicate that Pi to that, because I hate leaving my desktop on to run that.

@johnnyboy I like that video, just not a fan of Open Media Vault. I am looking into Own Cloud because they offer access to the storage from anywhere.
