Introduce yourself!

@Kereknjek ok… I would open a topic in the general discussion area
I would also see this module… MMM-ArduPort and how to send data from the arduino to the pi…
I also had added an http server to my arduino ESP8266 NodeMCU and provided apis for data access as another route, which keeps the devices from having to be physically wired together

Greetings,
My name is Chris from San Diego, CA. I play hockey, play with tech stuff and work for the Government…oh and I am married and have two kids.
I just joined here and I want to build my own Magic Mirror. Is there a ‘starters guide’ somewhere I can use to get going?
Thanks in advance! -
Hi there, I’m Craig. From Scotland and have been thinking about making a margin mirror for a while now. I have got most of my parts together now and am about to start my project which will be slightly different I think or could be a disaster 🙄🙄 we shall see!!

There is no single guide, at least not here. What have you done so far? Are you going to be using a Pi? If so, have you successfully installed the latest Raspbian OS on it? If so, you’re one install script away from installing the MM software. :-)
I suggest you use the “Troubleshooting” category for further questions. There are plenty of people willing and able to answer all your questions there. Not everyone reads the “Introduce yourself” topic.
Welcome

Hello, my name is Pete from Mesa, Arizona, married for 35 years, father of 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Enjoy electronics/computers as a hobby and found MM to be interesting.
I have built the MagicMirror (without the mirror for now) with Raspberry Pi 3 and a 24" monitor and it is working great. Soon to be adding the traffic module and possibly delving into sensors, RingDoor, facial recognition and more!
Will post pictures when I get a moment. -
Welcome to the old guy club. We gotta stick together!

@Mykle1 Quick question, will any version of the Pi work?

Yes, but there are some limitations on the earlier Pi’s. The better the Pi you can obtain, the better the performance and experience you will have.
Personally, I wouldn’t consider anything less than a Pi3 but that is up to the individual user (you).

Hey! My name is Nick, I’m 26 and I live in Montana now! I’m more of an automation enthusiast but I had an old monitor and I’ve been eyeing smart mirrors for a while, so heck ‘em, I’m going to build mine!

Hi everyone,
i am Steffen, 34 years old and a software engineer form germany. I build my first smart mirror last year. First i used glancr, but because of alot restrictions it was time to improve and i switched to MagicMirror² . I really like this project. I hope i can make some contributions in near future.
