I think there’s a little misunderstanding.
I would like to create several pages with mmm-pages and control them via alexa. Therefore I have to specify in the configs of mmm-pages which modules should be there on the pages.

Example:
Page 1: mmm-clock, mmm-calendarext2
Page 2: mmm-waether, mmm-calendarext2

How should I insert different scenes or views there?

MMM-CalendarExt should exist on all the pages. And give it an order to change scenes by notification from whatever(mmm-pages?)

I just looked inside MMM-Pages(edward-shen/MMM-pages) shortly, It has no feature to emit notifications about current page sequence to other modules. It has PAGE_NUMBER_IS but it is only as the response of QUERY_PAGE_NUMBER. So there is no way to recognize which page at that moment. So CalendarExt2 cannot know what scene to show.
My previous answers are somewhat confused because MMM-Page-Selector(Veldrovive/MMM-Page-Selector) has PAGE_CHANGED to inform the current page when page is changed.

After the syntax corrections you highlighted my MM was working fine. Today I added an entry into one calendar and it did not show up on my MM. I looked at the log and the [CALEXT2] tasks are not showing up to query any calendars.

I went and looked at my mm-out.log file and found some strange messages.

It appears that when the getaddrinfo… messages appear that the calendar is no longer accessible to the module and it is no longer scanned. Above I show the message for 2 calendars but eventually every calendar I have programmed gets this error message.

What is happening and is there a way to automatically recover from this error?

Note: it looks like this may be a Google issue but I am wondering if there is a way to elegantly handle the error or get a notification that an error occurred? It also happened to different calendars at different times so I don’t think it was an issue with my network.

Edit: further inspection this may be a local network issue. Would still like to know if there is a way to recover from these errors.

I’m having trouble getting MMM-CalendarExtTimeline to populate. The CalendarExt2 is filled in. Here is what I have in my configuration (with my personal info blocked out) and what I am seeing on my screen. Any ideas?

hey, @Sean Did you happen to miss this?

I’m trying to add an ICS file, but it’s throwing an error, but other calendars accepts it.

The url is http://www.tax.gov/calendar/employer/calendar.ics

Log from PM2 LOGS shows this error:

[CALEXT2] calendar:irs >> invalid date-time value: “2016-12-30T::”

Is it the US Government not knowing what’s going on, or is it a bug in the code?

Sorry for the late answer. I was hospitalized due to my broken ankle, so I couldn’t inspect.
The issue looks like invalid format of ics. Unfortunately, iCAL format is not so strict (despite of standard rule, RFC-5545, RFC-5546 and so many standards), some iCAL could have ambiguous formats. Well, my parser cannot understand yours. At this moment, I have no time to fix it. (Or, … I’m not sure it should be fixed.) Sorry.

@Sean oh, damn man. Hope the ankle heals quickly and cleanly. What did you do?

Glad to know what’s going on with the code, noting it’s the gov not knowing how to format the iCal (Not a surprise, actually). It would be wonderful if it could be understood and fixed, give your module some more flexibility to handle screwed up ical.

Hi Guys,

Noob on MM but loving it. Got the calendar configured almost to my liking but am running into couple issues if anyone can please assist?

Upcoming views - how can I use the event time properly. using the h:mm A for timeFormat in that view only displays 11 - 12:30PM and not 11AM - 12:30 PM. What format would I use as I can’t seem to get it.
Upcoming view - how can I only display events for Today (current date) and not next scheduled. Also, if there are no events, I like the message to say “No more meetings today”. Currently the maxDays = 1 does only show events for a day but if I have no events left today, it will show events for tomorrow.
While I will use the #2 for current day’s event, in the daily view on the same screen below in row format, how can I remove current day/today from that since I already see that in my upcoming view above.
In the same daily/row view, if there are no events, i like the message to be “No meetings today”.

Weird. if you are using timeFormat: "h:mm A", it will show 11:00 AM not 11 or 11AM.

I seem to be having an issue with the month view and hope someone here might have a solution.

Currently I have 7 calendars setup and am using daily view in the top left with month view in the fullscreen_below section.

The daily view displays all events just fine when setting the slotCount to 2 or even 10 (although I cant figure out how to not overlap the month view) and it correctly displays all calendar events from all 7 calendars. All the calendars are from gmail and pulled from each gmail account using the link under “secret address in iCal format”. I have omitted that part in the code I shared below.

The month view is only displaying a few events for the entire month, Dec 29 through Jan 7 is populated and it doesn’t have all the events listed for January 7th, the rest of the days in the month are completely empty. Last month (December) was displaying all events just fine. Is there something I am missing?

I have recently update MM and MMM-CalendarExt2. The updates showed that they were completed successfully.

@vulkandosii set maxItems of month view to a bigger value. Current Default is 100. See the log and find enough value for that view.
The reason is, you might have tons (at least over 100) of events in your ical files. Unless you filter or sort events(In other views, those are somehow filtered already), the first 100 items will be loaded for month view. And probably those events would be too old to display. Because you might have many repeated events before this month, so 100 would be consumed already for old events.

Thanks for your amazing work. I was wondering if events have a property that marks them as part of a repeating sequence. I would like to filter based on that. I couldn’t find anything about that in the (very complete) documentation.

@Sean I added maxItems: 2000 to the month view. This fixed the issue. Is there any concerns having the maxItems set this high? will this slow it down or cause issues later?

Also a side note, the daily view overlaps if I set the slotCount past 2 or 3 when there are many events populated. Is there a way to cut it off if it hits the month calendar? Currently I just have slotCount set to 2 and this usually works to keep it small enough. Just wondering if there is a better solution.

Also thanks for this mod, it has been a huge benefit to my whole family. We use this to keep track of all the kids’ events and don’t think we can go back to anything else after using this.
