  • RE: Introduce yourself!

    Hi all,
My name is Robert I’m 30 years old and I live in Berlin. I have a wife and two small children (currently 2 and 4 years old).

I work as an aviation design engineer what is in line with my education. Therefore, I have a solid mechanical design background but rather little programming knowledge. The only language I feel somewhat comfortable with is Python. However, I don’t have any experiences with Java, Node.js or Linux but I’m on a steep learning curve now.

As a big fan of Sci-Fi movies and new technologies, when I saw MM for the first time I knew this is something I want to put my hands on it :) When I showed MM pics to my wife, project has been immediately accepted (of course) and I got the full home support :). Currently I have RPi3, Acer monitor waiting to be transformed into MM and wooden planks for a frame. I still don’t have the actual mirror – I’m planning to use silver PVC plate cut to size.

This is not the only project I’m doing but this is the one with the big WOW effect :)
I hope I could be able to contribute to this forum by sharing my experience and maybe help more on the mechanical side of your projects. It’s great to be here and to see how active this community is.
You can find me on GitHub.

Thank you all for your support and hard work! Good job!

  • RE: Mirror and bright conditions

Thank you for the answer. I tried to ask couple of glaziers about lighttransmission but none could tell me what percentage that is (I don’t know how to measure it). Have you bought your mirror at a normal glazier? I will try to find some company that can sell me 12-20% lighttransmission mirror.

Monitor backlight is also something I was thinking that may be a problem.

  • Mirror and bright conditions

    Hello all,
Today I finished building my first MM (soon I will post pictures with description in the appropriate section). However, what I found is that in the bright conditions the content is not very well visible. Display settings are maximum brightness and maximum contrast. I have standard 23" ASUS computer display I bought for about 100€.

My question is what do you think would be the best way to tackle it? I have a glass semi-transparent mirror. Unfortunately a glazier couldn’t tell me the parameters of glass (but at least it was cheap - 25€). What I see is the mirror is maximum 30% transparent and a bit brownish. Should I change a mirror glass to something different - maybe acrilic?

If I change mirror to more transparent are there any drawbacks?

    Thank you for the suggestions.

  • RE: Problem with Weather forecast

    OK, it makes sense.
Is there any option to get only one forecast for one day? Or to display somehow the time periods?

  • RE: Problem with Weather forecast

Thank you Mykle1. Now the weather forecast shows up where it should be.
However, I have exactly the same problem what luizcarlosnery mentioned earlier. Today (Saturday) I see: Sat,Sat,Sat,Sat,Sat,Sun,Sun.

  • RE: Problem with Weather forecast

Hello, I have exactly the same problem and I am trying to use your patch Ramirez. However, I am coming from the “mechanical world” and I’m new to Linux and GitHub. Could any of you write me how to apply such a patch?
