      hmmm

      0 margin
      0 vertical
      0 horisontal

      Gives me full screen.

      Good enough for now

    • Vertical Screen Size

      Just installed a Pi3 with the official TFT touchscreen.

      The OS etc uses the whole screen.

      But when I open MagicMirror it’s only using about 2/3 of the screen realestate…

      Any ideas?

      Cheers

    • RE: Rest / HTTP data

      @cowboysdude

      Thanks for the replies. Any help is much appreciated.

      I’ve tried a year or so ago using MMM-HTTP with no luck.

      And tried again over the last few weeks using MMM-HTTP and MMM-REST with no luck.

      What module are you planing on using?

      I also have one other source. Hosted locally tho but that returns a ton more data. I thought this that only returns some data would be easier to get working first.

      I think my issues may be coming from my lack of understanding on how to actually target a specific result within the data.

      But so far I’ve not got any data to show.

      Thanks again :-)

    • Rest / HTTP data

      Hopefully someone can help…

      I’m trying to get data from a few places onto my magic mirror.

      Using REST or HTTP get api.

      I’ve tried the HTTP and Rest modules with no luck.

      An example of a GET request I’m trying to use:

      xxxxxxx

      Any ideas how to grab this data. What module do I need. And then how do I pick just one result from the returned data.

      Hope someone has solved this already. Doing my head in lol

      Cheers all.

      hmmmm yes forgot about that rpi Zero… hmmm that does spark some thoughts…

      I wonder if I am allowed to use this software for displaying info in our small business…

      Picked up a cheap Nexus 7 tablet recently… 7" I think… still pretty good and lots around… they gave them out with new mobile contracts for a while…

      @KirAsh4

      I’ve thought about multiple instances myself…

      I was thinking a whole bunch of raspberry pi 7’ screens with just one module each spread over a huge window with that film… mmmmmm lol

      That would look awesome as a magic mirror

      I’d also love and RGB controller module… maybe the seed studios gear might be an easy integrate…

      Pi screens might be fairly cheap… probably find 8" I was only thinking the 7" official one for ease compatibility…

      I’d LOVE to see this if you manage it…

      @KirAsh4

      hahahhaahh

      Thinking lighter for sure maybe hmmmm… lol

      Its really intended as a pure dashboard… mirror is not important…

      By the time I get ALL the modules working that I want then it will be a nearly full screen anyway hahahah

      Plus i like the idea of pulling up a second screen if I ever need to…

      Still… Test will be in the actual large piece…

      While your around and helpful… do you see any dramas with the TV I have… 40" cheap VIANO LED LCD

      Will attempt to remove the bezel after and check if the screen is not attached to be able to remove it… Otherwise the glass is close enough to the height of the bezel it may just fit inside bezel nice but to frame it I’ll lose a very small amount of screen space…

      @KirAsh4

      Thanks for the advice…

      Hard to choose… I think? that I will be able to get away with the lighter stuff…

      Not that fussed about the mirror part… just the kewl factor…

      I wish now that I had gotten bigger bits to test with to really be able to see but the guy was nice enough to just give me these test bits… I think he even cut them to size as I originally asked when enquired for a size roughly the size of a pi 7" screen…

      I’ll check and see… whats the chances of a touch monitor working thru the glass… slim to none from my guess lol

    • Choosing mirror. 2 samples

      Any thoughts…

      Both samples have benefits. I have no idea the percentages of light etc…

      One… the darker one… Is more mirror like… But is fairly dull and doesn’t let colours show very well

      The lighter one is a lot brighter and sharper… I’d almost say you could watch a movie with it… but its not that reflective… I doubt good enough as a normal mirror

      I also haven’t tried playing with tv settings yet… Still testing…

      Its a little hard to tell by pics but its very noticeable in person… In pics you can see it in the fade outs

      Whats everyones thoughts / opinions ?

    • RE: Secure Wireless Home Automation

      @strawberry-3.141

      I use zwave.

      I use a Vera server as the main hub. Connects zwave zigbee? Wifi/ip and a few other devices

      Vera handy as it takes care of the automation side of things. And collects all data like power usage data.

      It also intergrates with a lot of the newer wifi stuff automation stuff.

      Are better options out there tho but I’m happy.
