That is what I eventually did.

Mirror Freezing
I have updated everything trying to get past this.
I installed a real time clock.
Fresh install of Debian 12
Fresh install of MagicMirror and restore with Sam’s backup/restore script.
So everything is fresh. I am running this on a NVME ssd stick.
very fast.
Ok since i gave you all the background.
Here is the problem I am having.
MM will run fine for hours, then all the sudden MM freezes, the time stops and it stays on the page that the time freezes on.
I have about 40 different modules running and they run great until the freeze up happens.
Below is the errors I am getting in the pm2 logs.0|mm | [2048:0303/182231.302189:ERROR:gles2_cmd_decoder_passthrough.cc(928)] ContextResult::kFatalFailure: fail_if_major_perf_caveat + swiftshader 0|mm | [2048:0303/182231.339696:ERROR:gles2_cmd_decoder_passthrough.cc(928)] ContextResult::kFatalFailure: fail_if_major_perf_caveat + swiftshader 0|mm | [2025-03-03 18:22:33.874] [ERROR] We expected a redirect to guce.yahoo.com, but got https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/ 0|mm | [2025-03-03 18:22:33.875] [ERROR] We'll try to continue anyway - you can safely ignore this if the request succeeds 0|mm | /home/pi/MagicMirror/node modules/electron/dist/electron exited with signal SIGINT 0|mm | [3690:0304/064512.174017:ERROR:gbm_wrapper.cc(74)] Failed to get fd for plane.: No such file or directory (2) 0|mm | [3690:0304/064512.174366:ERROR:gbm_wrapper.cc(257)] Failed to export buffer to dma_buf: No such file or directory (2)These repeat over and over for 20 or so times. RE: Mirror Freezing
Oh and I can ssh in and run date and the time is correct.
If I run MM in a separate browser on my laptop I pops up and runs fine and very clean. Time is correct. ect. which then causes the MM on the wall to start working again…
I did run your update script with force tonight when I came home and it had been frozen for approx. 3.5 hrs.
I am currently watching to see if it freezes again. so frustrating. -
RE: Mirror Freezing
@sdetweil
Just did a kill 1998 and it is now not showing up but the mirror is still working,
I guess I will wait until one of the modules doesn’t work anymore.
Then i will know which one to remove, right?
Turns out that was the wireless connection I think.
MM stopped and I can not access it through ssh time to POPO.
I will keep after this but I will also stop globe in the config.js. just to see if that helps.
Thanks for your help I have learned alot tonight about the way debian and MM run. -
RE: Nest Camera
@briantogo
I use MMM-MPlayerit will let you us rtsp if your nest camera supports that.
Not my module, just one of 50 + I use on my mirror. -
RE: Huge number of errors in log fills up HD
@cpcode
Once your have your setup completed, to what you want. You can use Win32Diskimager to make a .img file that you can reinstall with balenaetcher or RaspberryPiImager. I went to USB devices or NVMe drives.
I use Sam’s backup mainly to save my config.js and custom.css files so I never loose the main settings to the Current MM I have running. The list of modules helps too.
I also keep a module folder backup BACKUP is so critical if you are using sd cards. -
RE: pm2 doesnt work with crontab
@sdetweil
Thanks for the info I almost pulled down 32 bit.
It has been interesting to say the least going to trixie.
Turns out my problem was a failed NVMe drive.
I thought those things where supposed to last for a LONG long time…
I did get crontab -e to work with trixie and MM 2.33 not a fun ride, but entertaining. I finally learned how to use bash to make batch style files…
So not a complete loss of time… -

@mumblebaj
@sdetweil
@evroom
Thank you all for the information.
I did not get to use it BUT I will save this information, so I do not have to ask again.
I woke up this morning and crontab -e had started my MM like old times… It also shutdown MM last night like it used to…
Tech is great when it does not try to give me a headache, trying to figure it out…Thanks again guys for all your help.
I think I will close this as solved.
