Ok, I got my tablet, the small test mirror glasses and also MM installed on windows. the display is viewable through all the glasses, but through 3 of them only pretty weak. the fourth one lets much more light through, but i also can see the edges of the display, because it’s not that much of a deep black. in my mind i want a really sophisticated solution. so i will go with the lower light glass or maybe a thin white border around the display background, so it looks like a frame…

when i turn off the display, the tablet locks it, so i definitely need a login solution.

idea: display general data on the windows lock screen for everyone. display personal data when logged in.

@justjim1220 now that sounds less promising… looks like i will buy the tablet tomorrow and then i can start experimenting. also my test set of different mirror glasses arrives tomorrow. too bad i will be on a business trip for two weeks, hahaha.

@sdetweil wow that sounds promising. I still have to get my hands on a win10 tablet… I prefer to buy it used ;). After that, I will play around with all kinds of your suggestions. I will share my build, once it’s done and works how i want it to. Will the MMM-Voice command also work, when the screen is locked in win10?

That doesn’t add a lot of confidence to my project, but thanks for the tips. I’m also not a programmer, but I have friends I always bother with my crazy plans… My goal is to really get a seamless integration and make a user friendly experience. If I can accomplish it, i’m happy to share the setup…

@justjim1220 I will do my best. I will also try to work with Voiceattack, to maybe bind a command to turn on the display or so…

Thanks that helps me a lot. I guess I will first play with the locking/unlocking and behavior of the display and tablet itself, before using a smart mirror app. I will check out electron as well.

There are some fingerprint scanners on aliexpress, that are compatible with Windows Hello… So do I understand correct, that MM will be installed in Windows, like a regular software and to see the interface, I just open the and go to the browser? It has nothing to do with the windows login, right?

If yes, then I could run MM and rainmeter at the sime time, since rainmeter only gives Windows a custom skin with widgets…

I wanna build a smart mirror in my bathroom. Instead of buying a raspi, monitor, cables etc., I want to use a 10 inch windows tablet. It is compact, has a camera, a microphone and is easy to install in the cabinet.

Some people use rainmeter to customize windows… On the other hand I just read that MagicMirror also runs on Windows, which is great news.

Since I don’t want to have the screen turned on all the time, I’m looking for a good way to turn it on and off. Also I want to have my personal calendar displayed, so other people should not be able to access the information and maybe only see time and weather… In other words, some profiles would be the best option. Is that possible?

Some ideas are:

1. USB fingerprint scanner
2. Facial recognition
3. Voice command

I’m happy for every input and brainstorming. Maybe someone is facing the same issue or has another idea how to solve it.
