    Hey builders,

    I’m planning a glorious 42" magic mirror. The raspi is fine, the software is running like a champ, but my lack of experience with hardware really makes it hard for me to pinpoint the correct hardware needed.

    So here I am: I stripped a 42" TV to the LCD. (I left the inverter and the t-con board in place.) When I enter the serial “LC420WUD-SBG1” with the keyword “controller” into google I find a lot of replacement party, but no actual controller board.

    Did I hit a dead end? Is there no controller for my screen?

    Thanks for all your help!

      This is the only thing I came up with

      http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAIN-BOARD-E214887-KB6160-LC420WUD-SBW1-/191854456177

      It’s the main board which I guess would be your controller board…

        Yeah, I found that as well. But would that not be the 1:1 replacement of the mainboard I just ripped off the TV with all the internal logic, software and all that stuff we usually don’t want? :)

          I’m in the same situation. I have a 32" TV I wanted to use, but I cannot find any suitable controller board. I don’t want to use the original controller because it shows annyoing information on screen (no signal, input 1, …)

          I contacted one of the companies on ebay and asked about support for my display. However I did not quite understand their response, they said it would be possible, but I need to learn more about power supply and such.
          I stopped at that point but I need to pick it up later this year. If you make any progress, please let us know :)

            Not sure but you’d think that there has to be a controller board for these LCD’s…

              I just contacted “trustyhl” on ebay. No luck there.

                @cowboysdude there is, it’s the main control board - why would there have to be anything else?

                  @Krisalexroberts-0

                  To avoid all the unnecessary crap the TV companies put in their ICs, which is usually worse than modern monitors. We are talking about stuff like all the smart-tv stuff, “no signal” messages and so on.

                  Thats why we want a barebones controller where we can slam the HDMI signal in and display it on the panel. And not much more.

                    @krautgamer But why would manufacturers benefit from producing them? The market is incredibly small for such a minor benefit

                      In fact it is not. There are lots of usecases to reuse displays and there are several companies on ebay (and alibaba and such) selling these controller boards. It is just lacking support for uncommon displays.
