I need to know how to make my smart mirror screen vertical instead of horizontal. Can I get easy steps that a beginner would be able to follow?

Rotating the screen requires that you edit the /boot/config.txt file.
You simply need to add the following line to that file and save.
display_rotate=1
Reboot.
