Eeepc instead of raspberry

@pnobrega as long as the module isn’t relying on rpi hardware (like the gpio) you are good to go.
You can run MM2 on a regular windows machine to if you like. (There is a guide somewhere here on that) -
@broberg that’s what I was thinking.
Thanks for the confirmation -
@pnobrega use the installer script , see here

I have a eeepc
Use it! You won’t be sorry. I’ve done this with an EeePC about a year ago. The EeePC outperforms any Pi in all aspects. Will you miss the GPIO? Maybe, but the benefits you gain from using the EeePC far outweigh any loss of a GPIO in my opinion
that runs nicely Linux.
You don’t need Raspian at all. I am strictly an Ubuntu guy where MM is concerned. I’ve made quite a few MM gifts using laptop boards, Mac and PC. The issues that arise from using a Pi don’t materialize.
Here’s my EeePC Alarm Clock - https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/8640/11-alarm-clock-using-mm-and-hello-lucy

Goog luck and keep me posted.

16.04 was the most current when I started so I stayed with it. In fact, I’m still running 16.04 on my dev machine. The most current(stable) would work just as well, I’m sure. They’ve made some UI changes that I wasn’t thrilled about but that is not an issue.

I would suggest staying with the integrated microphone, or an analog microphone if you are going to be using any voice control. Assuming the PS cam is USB, you’d be introducing a bunch of latency that you won’t be happy with. Certainly, use the cam for cam duty.
