    • RE: New mirror in Portugal

Boas. A minha grande questão é: onde compraste o vidro? Ando há dias a pesquisar e parece que só consigo lá fora. Ou então não ando a procurar no sitio correto… Está com um aspecto fantástico.

Hey. My big question is: where did you ge the glass? I’ve been searching for days and it’s seems my options are all abroad. Or else im searching in the wrong places… It looks amazing

I went for lubuntu based on 16.0.4 like you suggested there.
MM is already running, the basics… Now i’m trying to get assistant and other perks to work… so far so good…

Gonna se if I can do everything I want with just the PS eye camera 🙂

    • Eeepc instead of raspberry

      Hey guys,
I’ve planning using the raspberry 3b+ that I have to use with the mirror I’m building. But… I have some doubts about my raspberry about performance.

I have a eeepc 1015bx ( just the bottom, I’ve removed the screen, has 4Gb RAM, a 32gb ssd and AMD apu) that runs nicely Linux.

If I install on it the Raspbian Desktop, will I be able to use the same modules that I would with a raspberry? Since 99% module instalation mentions raspberry. I know I don’t have the GPIO.

I was going for assistant, maybe face recognition and gesture control as main features. For that I have disassembled a PS Eye 3 cam that has 4 mics and a nice lens… since it connects to USB i probably don’t need any more connections.

      I think…

      Thanks

    • RE: Touch foil, maybe a solution ?

I just re read your post ansy you mentioned Pilkington said they don’t use metallic coat.
I bought a Pilkington Mirropane™ Chrome Spy from Germany, so probably the same you mentioned.
      Where you got that info?

they answered me this: “the delivered Mirropane is a chrome based mirror with metallic characteristics.”

      Thanks

    • RE: Touch foil, maybe a solution ?

      Hum.
Glad I found your post. I was just looking for a possible solution for my magic mirror project. Initially wasn’t going to do it, but after my wife started seeing the “thing” she starts talking about being touch, bla bla. And if she likes it… Ehehe
I bought a Mirropane Chrome Spy 6 mm from Brigla and had no idea about that metallic coat thing.

Since the mirror is 60x90 and behind is a 32inch monitor, touch foil was the only solution I saw.
I was checking AliExpress, and found some that work behind 12mm glass. but now have to check that metallic coat thing.

      Thanks

    • Google Voice KIT vs MMM Assistant modules

      Hey guys.
In my house i use several google home devices and when I started thinking of my magic mirror project it made sense to me to buy a google aiy voice kit (v1).

I configure it first in my raspberry using googles tutorial and it seemed to work ok. Now I’m configuring my magic mirror and I’ve got to a point where I can’t really understand what’s the difference between using this google kit or the MMM-Assistant modules found here.

With google voice kit i can’t really interact with the mirror / screen itself. Can’t ask it to play spotify in the mirror…

but i shows up in my google home app as voice kit and i can send home automation commands like in the rest of the devices…

So, anyone can give me some lights what are the big differences in using a module or this google kit?
