Monitor says "NO SIGNAL"
-
Hi, so recently I installed MM2 on my RPI with an old Acer X193w monitor which was from 2008.
The problem I have is when I disconnect my HDMI cable from RPI the monitor does not connect to any other input devices which it used to before. If I connect my laptop or any other HDMI output device, it just doesn’t accept any signal from those but only RPI works with Magic mirror working on it as well.
Please help me as I am fairly noob in here.
also, English not being my first language there might be few mistakes. -
@Ameyalgudkar if u turn the monitor off and then back on, does it work after disconnecting from the pi?
some monitors remember signal at disconnect.
-
@sdetweil yes, it works without any problem if it’s connected to the pi. Only does not display anything saying (no signal) when I connect the same HDMI to a laptop out port.
-
@Ameyalgudkar no, you missed my question
working on pi,
unplug from pi
plug onto laptop, failsunplug from laptop
power monitor off
plug on to laptop
turn monitor on
does it work??unplug from pi
turn monitor off
plug onto laptop
turn monitor on
does it work -
@sdetweil unplug from laptop
power monitor off
plug on to laptop [NO IT DOES NOT]
turn monitor on
does it work??unplug from pi
turn monitor off
plug onto laptop NO
turn monitor on
does it workin simple term, display only works if the hdmi is connected to pi and getting input from pi.
-
@Ameyalgudkar the monitor NEVER works on laptop??
-
@sdetweil nope.
But it used to before I installed magic mirror and some modules. -
@Ameyalgudkar if u unplug monitor from power, does it reset?
-
@sdetweil it does not reset I don’t think it does. because I tried the method you mentioned but it didn’t work.
-
@Ameyalgudkar wow… never ever seen that before… in 40+ years
-
@sdetweil haha yeah even I am not sure what did I do wrong or where. because the monitor used to work fine everything was working well, but this just happened suddenly. Maybe I will just use this monitor on RPI from now on.
Also, I am using it with a DVI to HDMI cable and to micro HDMI. could it be due to any of those reasons?
and I tried removing the DVI and inserting it back as well but that did not work as well. -
@Ameyalgudkar hm… i use dvi/hdmi adapter on one monitor, but again, never seen monitor locked to one system, or signal.
now… I HAVE seen one system locked to specific config…
I have to power off/on my pi4 if I want the second display to work… only recognized at power on…

@sdetweil well, thank you for the time I appreciate it. and hope you find a solution in future for this.

Hello,
Is your problem is solved?
Recently, I am also facing the same issue, I tried to contact the customer care service of the monitor.
Later I released, I am using the outdated drivers and hence it is creating the issues to display the pictures. I think you have the same scenario. I am linking to the resource, you can check them for step by step troubleshoot.
Thanks,
Jeffer James
