Hi all, is somebody interested in adjusting the existing news feed module to a news ticker? So news is not alternately shown but in a scrolling bar like on the news. Unfortunately I do not have the skills to do this.

That would be a cool idea… I was pondering doing something similar for a sports score stream (think what you see at the bottom of the screen on ESPN or something). I hadn’t found any good free sports json API that are still active so I hadn’t put any effort towards iet yet. It was a really quick google search so I might have missed something.

Could you elaborate on what you mean?

I think he’s talking the scrolling text like you see on TV (at least it is common here in the states). Can’t find a great solo gif of it, but here’s a gif of 17 different ones at the same time, lol… Hopefully enough to get the idea across. It might be a bit taxing on the pi architecture, not sure.

@mattlugar Ah I see. So scrolling from side to side? I’ll tinker with it a bit.

@mattlugar thank you, that is exactly what I mean! Would also be great for sport scores indeed!

As a follow up to this, I have not figured anything out. Not sure how to communicate with the other modules yet. I think you’d have to do that in this case. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to help with this one.

@EoF maybe you could just add the featute to the core module as an option instead of creating a new module (@MichMich)?

We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

I was going to ask something similar. I want to have multiple “news feeds” with one being the standard NYT one but also one from say ESPN as well as the RSS feed for my local train MARC. Are there any good “Mirror Designs” for this? Would I just create a new module section, have this placed say in the bottom_left and list the website RSS feed?
