Hi, there is a new Alexa Module
-
@Fozi Agreed, no clue what fixed the problem. I tried @Stoffbeuteluwe’s config file with the old Alexa, no luck. I received my Dot a few hours later, plugged it in, and voilà, “I’ve discovered 18 new devices.” My guess is maybe some outdated WiFi related hardware on the 1st Gen Alexa?
-
@techcoderun As the cyberweek on Amazon comes closer and I need another Dot anyways, I‘m curious if I’ lol succeed, too.
-
@techcoderun
Suddenly my MM got detected on with my old Echo Dot Gen. 1 and without the installation of the other modules. I can‘t say why. Alexas feedback after scanning for new devices was misleading, too. She answers that no new devices were detected, but I found four new devices in the device list. Anyways, it seems to work and now I‘m thinking about a fitting use case for my needs. -
Hmm, Perhaps I need to revisit this module?
-
Now that everything is working, here is a video of this module in ACTION!
-
@techcoderun Thanks for the video, well done!
-
@Fozi Thank you!

Hi, if I currently have 8 pages configured. and these are discovered in alexa devices, then I wish to change the 8 pages to lets say 12. Is the discover devices part suppose to find then 12 pages.
-
@KJHedges Hi, yes that should work but then some other devices couldn’t work. For that I made some changes. You have to update the repository. For that run in
/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-AlexaControl
the following command:git pull
. Then you can change the number of pages without any problems. But you have to delete all your devices one time after updating and discover them new. -
@JoChef2 i did not add any pecific devices, and came up with refresh, shutdown, restart as devices…
not particularly useful… I will have 5 MM running… so need to address each…
my devices don’t support either tvservice or dpms… so I created MMM-SleepWake that does hide for those that need it. I am changing your module to support HIDE too…
