@sdetweil I did git pull in the ~/MagicMirror parent directory. That gave me a few errors about changes, so i just did git pull --hard. Then I did npm install. For the other modules, i just did git pull and npm install.

@sdetweil when I go into the developer console, it says " devtools was disconnected from the page. Once the page is reloaded, devtools will automatically reconnect."

If I x out of that and go to console, it’s empty.

More troubleshooting: I deleted the config.js and it loaded and said I needed to load a config.js file. I loaded the sample one, and it went back ot being a black screen.

@Cyric ok, where do u start mm? pm2 or nom start manually

                  if pm2 do

                  pm2 logs --lines=100

if nom start, the console output is right there.

let us know what u find

@sdetweil ok, progress. It started magic mirror with a black screen and no mouse. Before it was a black screen with the mouse, and it said electron instead of magic mirror 2. I rebooted and tried to reload my config.js, but it didn’t help.

@sdetweil I’m running rasbian like the tutorial suggests.

That command gave me: “pi@raspberrypi:~/MagicMirror $ ls modules/default -laF
                                      total 12
                                      drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Jul 3 08:21 ./

@Cyric well. why are they. missing?

I don’t know if this will work

                                        cd ~/MagicMirror
                                        git checkout modules/default

if not, you will probably have to git clone and copy the files from the clone

                                        git clone https://github.com/MichMich/MagicMirror. git mm

                                        cp -r -p mm/modules/default ~/MagicMirror/modules

                                        Sam

@sdetweil I have no idea what happened. I ran the update, restarted, and nothing worked.

So, the command git checkout and nothing seemed to happen. I removed the folder and did the git clone of the directory. I tried to do git mm and it said mm is not a git command. I tried to run the last line you gave me, and it said no such file or directory.

I really appreciate all your work on this.

@Cyric that git clone was all one long line

clone this repo into a folder named mm

you removed the folder, that’s where it went further south
