I am going to buy a display and i found this but want to have your opinion, which display you would go for and why thatr display is the best for me.
I can not go over 18 inch and not below 15 inch as it needs to fit the location where i planed to put it up.Here is the links.

No suggestions any one?
-
Now, my opinion is, all of them will work. You need only a VGA to HDMI adapter.
-
i just bought one off of newegg today for $33 plus a dvi to hdmi adapter. dvi to hdmi is cheaper than vga to hdmi. Also, if you have a microcenter close to you they usually have refurb monitors for like $35
edit: I also picked up a small hdmi tv from the pawnshop for $30. You can also find some decent screens at the goodwill.
-
Why do i need a VGA to HDMI adapter? As my RPI got HDMI and the controller board have that to as you see in the description of the screen.
I dont have Newegg in Sweden so thats not an option.
-
@wizz no, You don’t need VGA-HDMI adapter. Bigger, Better?
-
Ok than i go for the 17,3 inch display.
-
-
Was looking at this but about this? LCDs Normally White vs Normally Black as the bigger is normaly white and the smaller is normaly black ? Can some one explain if this is an issue using it for an Magic Mirror?
-
How do you thing is it safe to buy power supply separately from monitor, could you provide some links to them?
-
You can use any one that is like this image
https://ae01.alicdn.com/img/pb/240/342/905/905342240_520.jpgOr just buy this one.

@wizz I was mentioning the vga adapter if you went with one of the cheaper monitors that don’t have hdmi input…
-
Ok that wold work for me to.
Have to check as it is hard do find the separate parts that i need.@ottobot do you got some links for me on Aliexpress that you think wold be good for my project?
-
Buying bigger things outside the EU you will have to pay toll and taxes on it. Not worth it.
Or Try finding a used monitor with hdmi on www.blocket.se
The small ones usually are dirt cheap! The LED monitors often has a stronger light output/contrast are therefor better suited for a magicmirror, but a normal tft/ccfl screen works also. It’s more up to the lighttransmissin of your mirror in the end.
-
@broberg That i know and the thing is that i want the mirror to be only seven centimeters thick as the location where it will hang it on the wall don´t let me have a thicker frame so this is why i try to find the best solution.
-
@wizz okey, so a maximum depth of 5cm for the screen then? what is the maximum width and height for the screen?
And about the color of the frame, it should not be an issue, if it is, just use some “eltejp” or black vinyl, or just paint it black.
-
@broberg thats right and the width maximum is 40 - 42 cm and height is 80 - 85cm it will hang in my kitchen beside the door on a small wall where i also got the kitchen cabinet whit a door that have to be possible to open so it is a small area i have.
-
@wizz Okey, so how about this one then :
https://www.dustinhome.se/product/5010887463/gw2470h?ssel=false&utm_campaign=prisjakt&utm_source=prisjakt.nu&utm_medium=pricecompare&utm_content=563714624751mm thick, 553mm wide and 329mm high.
Turn it on it’s side and you get 329mm wide and 553mm high. And it will cost you the same (or less if we count the toll costs) as the aliexpress 17.3 lcd panel
-
@wizz or maybe this one :
https://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorer_och_tillbehor/215664-aoc_e2476vwm6_236-1ms-vga_hdmi-vesa&atcl=external:ref41mm deep, 558mm by 335mm
And it was cheaper still :D
-
@broberg Thanks for the links will try to get by Webhallen today on my way home from work :)
