MMM-FMI - (Find My iPhone)

  • Project Sponsor Module Developer

    Description:

    MMM-FMI

    • A MagicMirror module that beeps your iPhone and tells you its location.

How many times have you misplaced your iPhone? You know it’s around there somewhere! Do you ask someone to call your phone? What if no one is there to help you? And what if your iPhone is on mute. That doesn’t make finding it any easier. And what if you really lost your iPhone, or even worse, someone stole it?

This module will send loud beeps to your iPhone, even if it’s on mute, and will tell you it’s location.

I’ve disabled the “distance” feature temporarily. The data for that is not always reliable. However, the “location” feature seems 99% accurate.

As of right now, it requires the ability to click, whether by mouse or touch. I’ve got some ideas that I’m considering for that.

    Update 4/20/19

I have not been able to address the new Apple Two Factor Authentication and this module. However, it does continue to work on my iPhone 6, iOS 11.2.6

The data no longer includes the address. However, it does include the latitude and longitude of your iPhone. This is necessarily long for accuracy. I’ve tested it and I am satisfied with the results. Until I can add this function to the module you can enter the lat and long the module gives you at this url for an address. https://www.latlong.net/Show-Latitude-Longitude.html

The module now shows the battery power of your iPhone.

  • good work on the module. I can’t use it as my mirror has no touch input available. Was wondering if there is any way to pipe into find my friends…(prob not knowing apple)

It will work if you can “click” it. Some people use Bluetooth keyboards. In any event, it would only be necessary when you were actually looking for your iPhone. I’m thinking about trying to implement a voice command to do the clicking. Thus, no need for touch or clicking.

If your friends were to give you their iCloud username and password you would only be able to find their phone and beep it, and only one, as the module stands.
