Hello, my name is Pete from Mesa, Arizona, married for 35 years, father of 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Enjoy electronics/computers as a hobby and found MM to be interesting.
I have built the MagicMirror (without the mirror for now) with Raspberry Pi 3 and a 24" monitor and it is working great. Soon to be adding the traffic module and possibly delving into sensors, RingDoor, facial recognition and more!
Will post pictures when I get a moment.

@Mykle1 Quick question, will any version of the Pi work?

Yes, but there are some limitations on the earlier Pi’s. The better the Pi you can obtain, the better the performance and experience you will have.

Personally, I wouldn’t consider anything less than a Pi3 but that is up to the individual user (you).

Hey! My name is Nick, I’m 26 and I live in Montana now! I’m more of an automation enthusiast but I had an old monitor and I’ve been eyeing smart mirrors for a while, so heck ‘em, I’m going to build mine!

                Hi everyone,

i am Steffen, 34 years old and a software engineer form germany. I build my first smart mirror last year. First i used glancr, but because of alot restrictions it was time to improve and i switched to MagicMirror² . I really like this project. I hope i can make some contributions in near future.

Hehe, the time was right, but i am a bit sad that i can´t use the pi zero anymore. I know about the workaround, maybe i will try it out later, but then i surely need to say good bye to the google assistant.

I like the community driven approach here and it seems that here are some developers from my hometown too :)

Use it for something else. If you move up to the Pi3 or Pi4, or some other more robust board, you won’t be sorry.

Not if you move up in hardware. MMM-AssistantMk2 is very popular and has great support from @Sean, the author.

                        @PixxelFriend why can’t you use pi0?

It works. Certainly some of the high power required modules aren’t appropriate…

                          Hi, Im Karl,

I am currently working on the software side of a MagicMirror.

I have it all up and running on a Raspberry Pi3. This I run as an Alexa Device too.

Still messing with different modules ect. Placements and alike.

Im hoping that this community is still active. Many good people over time with good helpful advice I see from reading through the forums.

                                  Hello,
I am a 51 year old engineer from Germany, the MM is my newest Raspberry-Pi-Projekt. Just installed the basics, waiting for the mirror glas to install it in one IKEA Ribba frame, with 21,5" display behind. Love this project!!!

I am Otto, a software developer from Trondheim, and father of 3 children from 15-21 years old. I have built a MM a few years ago, but now I am just using the software on a screen in my kitchen. It is the information I love, not the mirror :-)
I have built several modules that I have shared, and I have more ideas. Programming is not only my job, it is also my hobby, together with electronics, hunting and food smoking.

                                          Hi Guys’
                                          I’m Dave from London.
My wife bought me a Raspberry Pi when they first came out in the UK in 2012.
I took it out of the box for the first time a week ago set it all up and I can’t use it as it is painfully slow (20+ mins to load a page). I don’t know if they are just no good or if I am doing something wrong.
Anyway, I want a MM so i will probably buy the latest Pi 4, unless people on here tell me otherwise, and build a MM.
I am so looking forward to it.
This forum looks ideal. I have read many posts that have encouraged me but I am sure I will be back looking for help and advice.
                                          Dave
