      Hello,

I thought that maybe instead of a mirror a large e-paper might be used as a home info display (in the kitchen or living room)
Are there any large e-paper displays available? at least 24"-27"
Has anyone seen it? What are the prices?

      Mike

        Found this
        https://shopkits.eink.com/product-category/e-ink-display-kit/

        way to expensive…
but maybe someone will find something more affordable…

@gooral - That’s an interesting idea. What advantages are you hoping to find with e-paper instead of a computer monitor?

Energy saving - e-paper needs energy only for changing state, so it could just be on all the time - no need to worry about sleep/wake.
And if you have bright living room you just place white e-paper display which looks a lot better on the wall than black display. It does not emit light so there is no problem at night and so on… It might be kind of electronic whiteboard on your fridge (especially when e-paper display is very thin)…

I am happy to be corrected if wrong but I think if there is no light emitted from the display behind then I don’t think it will be visible at all through the mirror.

I think that’s why the title says “… instead of the mirror”. I think it is supposed to be a kind of infoboard. I really like the idea but it will probably still takes ages before larger displays are available and affordable.

@madscientist what do you think about this : https://fr.aliexpress.com/store/product/Waveshare-1200-825-9-7inch-E-Ink-display-HAT-for-Raspberry-PiZero-Zero-W-Zero-WH/407494_32948709836.html?spm=a2g0w.12010612.8148356.3.75b5a30cB0t9xc ??
I precise, I don’t have link with the seller… I just had the same idea that you : Using MagicMirror to built an infobard with an e-ink display and I landed on your topic…

@pnizet Still quite pricey for my taste but I’d love to see a infor-board project based on it. So go ahead and don’t forget to present it here :smiling_face_with_open_mouth:

Btw, it’s not my topic. @Gooral was the one starting this thread. :slightly_smiling_face:
