      Hey everyone!

I recently set up my MagicMirror, and while it’s working great with the basic modules, I feel like it’s missing something that makes it really stand out. I’m hoping to get some ideas from you all on how to take it to the next level.

      I’m open to suggestions on:

Cool modules or integrations (especially unique ones)
Creative ways to customize the look/UI
Any tips for improving performance or adding some hidden features

When I was searching for the same I came across these resources/articles https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/9231/first-time-build-looking-for-suggestions-tips-and-hardware-recomendations Salesforce CPQ Tutorial however they are good but I want to learn more from community members.

I’ve been thinking about adding more smart home integration or maybe some fun visual effects, but I’m not sure where to start. Would love to hear your thoughts or any cool setups you’ve seen!

Thanks in advance for any help, and feel free to share your setups for some inspiration!

Hey Matthias, it’s awesome that you’re looking to upgrade your MagicMirror setup! If you’re looking for creative modules, ‘MMM-Page-Indicator’ could be a fun addition to display different content. Also, ‘MMM-CalendarExt2’ could help you keep track of events in a sleek way. For UI customization, I’ve seen great results with ‘MMM-TextEffect’ to add some movement to the display.

Also, for performance improvements, consider optimizing your modules by reducing refresh rates for ones that don’t need constant updating.

I also came across some useful tips in this MagicMirror thread. Hopefully, that can give you more ideas!

On a different note, I find it’s helpful to take a moment for personal reflection when working on projects like these. I’ve been reading Surah Yaseen for some peace and focus—it’s a great read. You can check it out here: Surah Yaseen. Good luck with your mirror!

    • RE: My Fallout (PipBoy) inspired MagicMirror

@Keylicious said in [My Fallout (PipBoy)

This is an incredible project! I absolutely love how you’ve integrated the Fallout theme into your MagicMirror setup. The choice of fonts and the custom CSS really capture the PipBoy vibe perfectly. The weather and news modules also fit the theme well.

It’s clear you’ve put a lot of effort into learning and customizing the system, and it shows. One suggestion I’d have is to consider adding a module that displays a real-time Fallout-style map or some vault-related information. That would be an awesome addition!

Can’t wait to see what you do next with this project, and I’m sure it’ll look even better once you manage to get it behind a mirror!

Use SSH with a text editor like VS Code (with the Remote - SSH extension) to edit files directly on the Pi. This avoids remote desktop issues and allows seamless file access and module development.

Hello everyone, I’m wondering about the GB size of my MM. I have about 10 modules running…can it really be that they need so much disk space or is something wrong?

Check for log files or cache buildup that might be consuming extra space. Also, verify module configurations to ensure no unnecessary data is being stored.

    • RE: Alexa implementations now more difficult, and some features will stop working

Thanks for sharing the update. It’s unfortunate about the restrictions due to the new AVS security policy. It sounds like getting the Alexa Built-In certification might be the way to resolve this issue. For those running into similar problems, it might be worth looking into the certification process or exploring alternative solutions.

    • RE: My kitchen dashboard (incomplete)

Your family kitchen dashboard looks fantastic! The use of modules like MMM-MyCalendar and MMM-MyWastePickup is really practical. Moving to a UWQHD screen should enhance the display even further. I’m interested in how the page transition will work—sounds like a great idea to keep the interface clean. Looking forward to seeing the final setup!
