  • RE: Strip Down Guide for BenQ 28" VA Monitor GC2870H

    Hi @yep_DD

    Congrats on your build!

I used the same monitor for my MM - thanks to your post! :-)

Tried control the power of the backlight using a relay by passing both vled wires through it. Unfortunately it does not seem to work: as soon as I cut the power and turn it back on the monitor requires a reboot (using its power button) to get the backlights on correctly. @flo suggested the monitor may disable power output to the backlight as soon as it detects the power cut.

I was wondering how you connected the power button to a relay? The button board is a very filigree component and I’m worried to break it. Update: Just realized you are using vcgencmd display_power 0 to turn your monitor on and off. Awesome!

  • RE: Best glass transparency for MagicMirror

It is all about research. However, I haven’t found an extensive comparison so far. Apart from the link mentioned by @ganget, this link helped me dig deeper in the glass topic.

I’m trying to find a glass for my MagicMirror as well. I ordered the sample set from brigla and two 3mm samples with 12% and 20% light transmission from glaströsch.

To be frank I don’t find any of the samples satisfying so far. Compared to my bathroom mirror they all seem pretty dark. See for yourself. My favorite so far is the Mirastar 4mm.
In real life it even looks a bit darker than on the pics…

    Mirropane Chrome Spy 4mm

  • RE: Monitor for MagicMirror, 22-26 inch

    Hi @roxx

    Did you get your EW2775ZH?

With its contrast, brightness and thickness it seems the best option for me as well at this moment. What is the thickness after removing it from its case?

  • RE: Where to buy 2 way mirror in Switzerland (or French Alps) ?

    Hey @Dakara and @Mat74 ,

I’m from Switzerland/Bern as well. Would also love to hear @Mat74’s feedback!
Ordered the sample set from brigla-shop.de; giving it away after use.

@kruemel just saw your build report. Glastroesch seems really cheap compared to brigla. Thanks for the tip! Did you get samples from them?
