    • RE: "mirona" mirror for the magic mirror ?

Some updates on my sitcker endeavor - what I feared turned out just the way I expected it…

The sticker thing didn’t really work out for me, the mirror reflection is far from being usable for me. That was to replace a mirror in the bathroom where you’re primarily using the mirror to look at your self…

If it were in the living room I don’t think I would have minded so much but there I completely stopped.

Maybe I didn’t apply it right or I’m missing something but the results were far from being satisfying.

Anyone with a positive result using the Leroy Merlin sticker ? Please prove me wrong.

      Thanks

    • RE: Buy acrylic mirror in Spain

      Hi there,

I’ve tried the electrostatic film from Leroy Merlin (we have them also in Paris) but the effect was dull - ie I couldn’t see myself clearly in the reflexion.

Yours looks fantastic though, something I missed ?

    • RE: FreeBox V6 Monitor

    • RE: Complete remote administration using SSH

From the github :) I guess RTFM still works

Important: npm start does not work via SSH, use DISPLAY=:0 nohup npm start & instead. This starts the mirror on the remote display.

Simple 4mm glass + sticker = the least expensive way to start with quicker delays.

    • Complete remote administration using SSH

      Hi all,

Like everybody else here, I’ve started tinkering with default modules and the more I discover modules, the more I want them displayed but hey life is made of choices right ?

Now , I’ve got everything working locally (ie on the RPI3) and I wanted to just stick it behind the mirror and administer it remotely (read from a different country altogether)

I know how to ssh, nano a config file etc but the whole electron node.js is kinda new to me. I get the concept but I still have a question.

When I npm start locally (read from the RPI itself) things are fine, the monitor displays the “mirror” and I can access that same page from another computer/iphone using it’s web address.

Now if I npm start from SSH, it won’t work (because of no X11 running at the time ?)

Please point me in the right direction so I can move on with my life, this thing starts to drive me crazy.

Long read but hopefully will be helpful to others.

Thanks for reading this far :)

    • RE: "mirona" mirror for the magic mirror ?

      Hey There,

Mirona is apparently the name I’ve been referred to as well - specially made for TV kind of expensive though.

      I was quoted around 200€ for 76 x 55 cm in Paris.

I don’t really want to go the adhesive film route as the reflexion is not the best, it is a mirror after all :)

If someone has cheaper prices in France, I’ll take it.

      Michael
