RE: [MMM-JaST] Just another Stock Ticker (new: version 2.x)
@jack819 to install a module (read the link below in my signature)
cd ~/MagicMirror/modules git clone url from module cd module_name npm i
you need the module folder to be the current folder to do the dependency install

RE: Avoid "HDMI" splash screen on PIR control
this why my sleep/wake module hides all the modules instead of turning the display off.
(and the fact that I can’t get it to turn off by software. but I can turn it on…)

RE: No JavaScript experience - Config.js not working
@olesoncrypto in the MagicMirror folder do
npm run config:check
the output will report a line number of an error
unexpected token line 45
well, look at line 44, and see if it should have a trailing comma (meaning more to follow)
repeat til no error

RE: Weatherstation using MagicMirror+Rasp3b+7inch touchscreen
@cgillinger said in Weatherstation using MagicMirror+Rasp3b+7inch touchscreen:
I’m still trying to figure out how to make the SmartTouch module dim the screen instead of just hiding the modules
what do you mean ‘dim the screen’
maybe filter:brightness
if you use the developers console (ctrl-shift-i), elements tab, you can apply styles to elements to see the results… see here for operating the dev window elements
https://forum.magicmirror.builders/post/90135if you add
filter: brightness(0.5);
to the top bar element, then everything in top bar will be reduced brightness
if you apply it to the body element same for all the body

RE: No JavaScript experience - Config.js not working
@olesoncrypto yes, that will get you
general rules for config.js
the thing to the left of : does not need quotes for the thing to the right of : if it is a number (9, -1.234) or true/false , no quotes if it contains a letter 12ff234, bob, then needs quotes, single or double doesn't matter as long as they are the same start and end every { needs a matching } every [ needs a matching ] [] is a list [ 1,2,3,4] or [ first, second, third] {} is a structure/object with name/value pairs { x: value, y: othervalue } u can write lists and objects all on one line (what a pain) or across multiple lines... (much more readable) BUT, you STILL need the commas between items in either if u get an error, unexpected token, 99% of the time, u forgot a trailing comma on the line ABOVE the one reported (error on line 45, look at line 44) a good debug process is to join the list or object to a single line in your editor, and get the , between the items, then split it again after each comma... so u have a separate item on each line.
