I’m no expert, but have been playing around with MMM-Voice and Kalliope. I started off with a mini usb mic. It sorta worked, but had very mixed results. I bought a PS3 eye from amazon and I’m amazed how much better all voice mods are working now. Another thing I did was implement this fix (which may not pertain to you but really helped overall performance): https://github.com/MichMich/MagicMirror/wiki/configuring-the-raspberry-pi

    Good luck!

@sharmstr hi there. Thnx for the link. That’s the same way I configured the second back up rsp. And I’m using an expensive snowball blue mic that’s for gaming. Just feel like somethings wrong. Why does one rsp recognize hide click and show clock. Yet the second build just recognizes hide modules show modules and nothing else. Something g somewhere is wrong. The original build was done 2 months ago and that one recognizes all the modules to hide and show yet hangs after the initial start up. The second one was done yesterday and only recognizes hide and show modules not individual like show clock. Just dumb founded right now.

@shazglass as the author of MMM-voice I can tell you, that my module doesn’t support a command called hide clock at all. You are probably using hello-lucy, at least that’s a mod I’m aware of which enhances the commands. You can see the command list here https://github.com/fewieden/MMM-voice#usage

Please create a github issue if you need help, so I can keep track

then does ‘hide modules’ only hide the ‘supported’ modules list? vs ‘all/any’?

also, could you add some text to the description of ‘mode’ … its unclear to me the value of this , and the possible choices…

@sdetweil the base module hides all modules. the mode has voice and those ones https://github.com/fewieden/MMM-voice/wiki/Supported-Modules

not sure what rules apply for modifications of my module

@strawberry-3-141 oh my gosh!! I feel so stupid!! Yes, the first MM my son did was with Hello Lucy, we thought we deleted it, clearly not! and the new MM we just put MMM-voice! if you saw the two of use shouting at the mic and with a couple swear words you would find this very funny! Sorry for taking up your time!!!

sorry, that description of mode doesn’t help… what does MODE mean? that you can supply words via voice or text strings, or ??? but its not used?

ok, on my installation, ‘hide modules’ doesn’t do anything…

@sdetweil the original idea was that every supported module has it’s on mode, so modules can have the same commands without conflicts. And then you enter the mode and you can use commands of that module as long as you dont change the mode.

To change the mode you need to say the name of the mode as the first thing in your sentence, only the keyword can be before if necessery. Otherwise it will not detect a change mode

ok, so mode is really ‘context’ so you could speak to a single module
