        Control it to do what?

I use my Alexa to turn the mirror on & off via a smart plug.
There is a finicky Alexa module that will let you show and hide various modules, but that’s using the voice recognition routines, not Alexa/Echo itself.

If you want to tell your Echo “Alexa, show weather” and have it work, you’ll need to develop an Alexa skill that can be installed in the Echo. I don’t think anyone’s attempted that yet.

I use this module: MMM-AlexaOnOff and control all the apps with my echo dot. Works great.

@bhepler Hey Bhepler, thanks for your reply. I think I’m just going to use the Alexa module which I have installed and (almost) have working - I have an echo dot lying around which I thought I might be able to plug into the RPi as the speaker/microphone! Thanks

@mitchawl - My understanding is that the plug in the Alexa devices is output only. But I haven’t actually investigated. I could be wrong. Good luck!
