MMM-Awesome-Alexa Trouble
-
-
Hi!! I don’t know if you are still interested or if you already figured it out, but it happened to me too and have just found a fix. So here it is, for you, or whomever may need it.
Go to the MagicMirror folder, get inside modules, and rename the folder “MMM-awesome-alexa” to “MMM-Awesome-Alexa”.
It seems like the program is Capitals sensitive and couldn’t find the pathway. After renaming, it stopped giving back those errors.
Let me know if this helped you!
Have fun!!

@hectoreg21 but when u git clone it uses the project name so this shouldn’t happen
-
@sdetweil You are so true! The program does not give back any errors at all, but Alexa does not work either (because of the pathway name change). Sorry I didn’t notice this before posting. I’ll keep looking into it.
And thanks for the reply!

@hectoreg21 unless u are following some old workbook of instructions

@sdetweil
The information related to the capitalization is found on the developers install page. He specifically calls out “MMM-awesome-alexa”. However, I have yet to get this module to function. Each time I add to the MM config, the black screen with cursor appears. -
@shagtimetim i created a script of his steps,
make executable.
doinstall.shdoes all the module install steps, so remove the current awesome-alexa module folder, ignore the errors, only result of last step matters
-
@sdetweil Thank you! Installing now. Being a confirmed noob to MM, can you advise on this step “Build snowboy to your device specifications, in the /snowboy directory”?
-
@shagtimetim it will do that just hang on,
all this does is take the steps on the wiki make them run in a scriptit does fix one dependency correction
this is what my stuff does just a copy/paste

@sdetweil Thank you!! Everything now working as designed. One day, I will learn json!!!
-
@shagtimetim you got this module working?
-
@jste84 I have no issues since I used Sam’s steps
