MMM- Remote Control help
-
Can anyone explain the ip modifications needed to the config file for the Remote Control module?
-
@nneuland the address and ipWhilelist fields control what clients can connect to MagicMirror
address set to “localhost”, means only apps INSIDE the same machine can connect
changing to “0.0.0.0” (all adapters) means SOME systems outside the MM machine can connect,
and ipWhitelist give a list of address masks to test if those systems are allowedfor easy access , and no security for anyone on your local lan/wifi), address:“0.0.0.0” and ipWhiltelist:[] will allow anyone on your lan/wifi to connect to the MagicMirror application

@sdetweil
Thank you for the reply. After adjusting the address to “0.0.0.0” and adding my IP, I’m in a holding pattern of blank screen and curser, and no connection to the http://192.168.xxx.xxx:8080/remote.html website.“This site can’t be reached”

@nneuland did u remove everything from ipWhitelist?
-
This is what have in my ipWhitelist
ipWhitelist: [“127.0.0.1”, “::ffff:127.0.0.1”, “::1”, “ffff:192.168.XXX.XXX”], // Set [] to allow all IP addresses
I have xxx’d my actual ip address.
