Great idea and thanks putting your effort into this whole project.
I’m from Karlsruhe and would take 100 * 60 cm.
Probably I can pic it up from Schweinfurt, and could also take some more for other people, if needed.Only problem is, I need it asap.
What do you think, when you can order the mirrors?
So far we don’t even have 10 m². Will you wait until we get 20 m²? -
I will contact the glass supplier again tomorror. Maybe I can negotiate better terms for min. quantity. I think that could be possible. I will inform you if I know more.

Nothing new today. The manufacturer wants to calculate it again and announces tomorrow or Monday again. The conversion of the production is very complex that is why he need normally a min quantity of 20 squaremeter. Otherwise it does not pay enough. But he promised me to do his best to find a better solution with regard to the minimum order quantity. We will see, I am optimistic :)

@Goldjunge_Chriz Hey, I’m highly interested in buying one of those but I need a size of ~ 64cmx38,5cm which is an area of 0,25m². If that isn’t possible the max size I would get is 69x43,5cm which is an area of 0,3m².
Somewhere above you wrote that the making process for smaller sizes would be possible but one have to pay the Price for 0,4m². Are there definitely no chances to buy a 0,3m²-mirror? -
@Ashidian It is possible as I said above and as you have correctly interpreted: you can order smaller sizes than 0,4 qm, but it must be paid at least 0,4 squaremeter. That is normal in the glass Industrie and is called “Mindestberechnungsfläche” (minimum calculation area). This is also used with normal window glass, normal mirrors, safety glass, etc.

I might be interested in ordering, too. I study in Ilmenau, so a pickup should be a better solution as I do not really trust DHL in this easy to break case.As I can see, you just made a photo from the front with no backlight. Would it be possible for you to make another photo showing the translucency of the mirror? Do you maybe have also some specs? And one last important question: Can you give an estimated shipping date and lead time after we get the 20qm in total? My plan was to build one as a christmas gift for my girlfriend. ;)

I prefer pick up too, because it is the easier way for me. But when it is well packed, i don’t think there will be a problem with DHL :)
As you can see in my first post, I have made two pictures without backlight and two with backlight. Can’t you see all four pictures?
The light transmisson of this mirror is approx. 24 %. I also wrote in my first post that the shipping time from glass producer to me is about three weeks after I ordered the mirrors. So I think that the time until Christmas is very tight, i’m sorry. I hope my answer will be helpful for you. -

Last week I started my internship for my exams. I kind of expected to get a little bit of money for the work that I’ll be doing but apparently I won’t get anything.I was also very interested in the whole MagicMirror idea. I bought a raspberry PI and a Monitor just to try it all out. I got the software running but the only problem was the cost and rarity of a real mirror! I never tried the Plexiglas mirror with foil because I didn’t really expect much from it and I wasn’t so keen on buying a Plexiglas piece just to test the mirror out because I never really saw a possibility to get the real mirror easily. But now I see your offer and it immediately sparked my enthusiasm.
I can also see a way of fixing the first problem I described (the fact that I won’t be having any income for 20 weeks because of my internship). I live in a pretty wealthy area in The Netherlands and I think I might be able to sell these things to people if I have a demo for them to see.
Do you reckon you’ll be able to get a deal again with the manufacturer? or is this a one time thing? If it isn’t I think I’m getting a Plexiglas mirror just to test it all out and then I might be ordering a real mirror very soon (from you).

the glass suplier called me back now. Good news, It will be possible to order less than 20 qm. I could negotiate a lump sum staggering for orders under 20 qm:- 150 Euro from 5 to 10 qm
- 100 Euro from 10 to 15 qm
- above 15 qm is now for free instead of above 20 qm :)
This amount must be paid only once for all mirrors together. It will be divided by the square meters of all interested guys here and converted to the square meter price (For example: total ordered area is currently 6 qm. 150 € : 6 qm = 25 Euro. 296 € + 25 € = New qm price for Order under 10 qm: 321 €)
If everyone agrees with that the mirrors can be ordered earlier. Please let me know (especially the users in the list)
See my post above. If everyone agrees with that I will set a deadline for order placement this sunday evening or a few days later for example. Until then interested persons have the possibility to enter the list.
I can make a Deal with the manufacturer at any time. It does not have to be a one time thing, but this all means a lot of work for me too. I don’t know If I will make such an order in the future again. This also depends on the forum and the interest. If enough is needed, of course, I like to help. That can be in one month or in a half year, I don’t know.
