Blank mm after update

The module is running now, but I get this error:

When opening the URL in the browser, it does show the picture that I do not see on my screen.Oh boy/girl, thought it was a simple syntax thingy in config.js …

Correct.
I have a few questions.
In the original module there is no
package.jsonfile, where in the cloned one there is.
So, when using the original module, you should NOT usenpm install, right ?
First of all it will no do anything useful, but it WILL delete your/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/node_modules/node_helperdirectory and itsindex.jsfile.
When using the cloned module, you should runnpm installin order to install the dependencies mentioned in it, right ?
No harm is done to thenode_helperdir.Or is it all BS I am telling here (and made the wrong observations) ??

When I use
$ git clone https://github.com/szech/mmm-weatherchart.git
then it works.
The README.md from szech point to papkto.
When corrected and doingnpm installin themmm-weatherchartdirectory, it works -

To me it seems there are 3 problems here.
You could have a look what the pm2 log says:$ pm2 logs --lines 100You will either have:
Error: Cannot find module 'del'or:
Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/mmm-weatherchart/cache/map-1567097174409.or something completely different.
The 3 problems and potential solutions:
You’re config.js entries:
updateInterval: '3600000', hideBorder: 'true'should be:
updateInterval: 3600000, hideBorder: trueeven if the module could potentially handle it.
If your mmm-weatherchart instal has this file present:
/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/mmm-weatherchart/package.jsonthen you should run:
$ cd /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/mmm-weatherchart/ $ npm installIf your mmm-weatherchart instal has this file
NOTpresent:/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/mmm-weatherchart/package.jsonthen you should
NOTrun npm instal, has it will cause havoc to you MagicMirror install.
I would do this in this situation:$ cd /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/ $ mv mmm-weatherchart mmm-weatherchart.saved $ git clone https://github.com/szech/mmm-weatherchart.git $ cd /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/mmm-weatherchart $ npm install $ pm2 restart pm2 $ pm2 logs --lines 100When it works:
$ cd /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/ $ rm -rf mmm-weatherchart.savedGood luck !!

ps, 2 of my three systems do not have pi as the user, so the path is wrong, and in the module defaults too

Yes, I assumed user pi and the install under the user pi home directory.
Will try to remember that in the future.
Tilde for the home directory should work on all platforms, is my understanding.~/MagicMirrorMy keyboard is lacking a tilde and I always forget the right keystrokes.
So /home/pi is faster. :-) -
@evroom I sat right now and installed a new calendar module and suddenly the
mmm-weatherchartstarted working… :thinking_face:Did the
$ pm2 logs --lines 100and got a lot of errors, but I guess because everything’s working fine so don’t have to bother right now?! -
And of course it didn’t work now when I tried to switch back to default calendar module and then back to the other calendar module…

As long as the errors are no fatal errors that do not prevent the MagicMirror from starting or prevent a certain module from working right, you might chose to ignore them.
But the problem is, that when you add something new or update something existing, it becomes more and more difficult to debug and/or correct in case of problems.When you do this:
$ pm2 flush $ pm2 restart mm $ pm2 logs --lines 100what is the first error you see ?
Perhaps you post the first 50 to 100 lines of the log.But only if you want to spend some time on it, when not that’s fine too.

Doesn’t look too bad.
Probably you saw the previous errors in your log output, that it is why flushing (pm2 flush) sometimes cannot hurt.In order to know a bit about your environment, can you post the output of the following commands ?
I am assuming you are using a Raspberry Pi$ cat /proc/device-tree/model $ lsb_release -a $ npm --version $ node --version $ pm2 --version $ cat /boot/config.txt | egrep -v '^$|^#|^\['I also would suggest to see if npm shows any errors:
$ cd ~/MagicMirror $ npm auditIn my case a
$ npm audit fixsolved the dependency issues it found.
Perhaps others have different ideas, but as a hobbyist, I would take these steps first myself.

The npm audit warnings do not create any problems in running the mirror as far as I know. They also do not show up in the pm2 logs.
I would even be very careful as an inexperienced user to do that. “Fixing” these npm warnings on the root MM install could break the whole mirror (not the mirror itself of course :-)). Especially if you mess with the electron/chromium dependencies. -
