Hello-Lucy Module Microphone not working
-
I don’t think it’s npm. Those are just warnings and won’t affect the module.
USB microphone will work but it does introduce some latency.
If you run
arecord test.wavin a terminal window does it record a sound file? So, based on the info you gave me your config entry for the microphone should be
microphone: "2,0",Please try that
Then post your entire Hello-Lucy config entry so I can see it

You tried to run it? What was the result?
If you run

Your config entry is fine. I just tried it with my microphone setting and it works fine
-
Yes I tried it to run, but lucy say only “Hello Michael, what would you like to see” and on the top of the Mirror is a crossed-out green flashing microphone and “Command Please:”.
-
OK, the module is loading. That’s good.

arecord test.wav
No it doesn’t work , there is yet the error “arecord: main:828:…”. I just noticed that my USB micro is now suddenly displayed as card 1. I change yet my /.asoundrc file again. Do I have to download the module again?
Thank you for you fast replays.
-
arecord test.wavMUST work for Lucy to work.If you can get that to work then run
arecord -lagain to get your card and device numbers,Then enter those in the microphone config entry and run MM again
-
You do NOT have to download the module again
-
It’s still the same as earlier. At the top is still the crossed-out green flashing microphone.
-
Did you get
arecord test.wavto record a sound file?I just noticed that my USB micro is now suddenly displayed as card 1.
I’m confused. Is it still reporting card 1?
Did you make the changes to your config microphone option?
How long are you waiting before quitting MM when you see thecrossed-out green flashing microphone?
-
I’am confused too. It’s still card 1, when I enter “arecord -l”. When the Magic Mirror runs in the background and I enter “arecord test.wav” the Error “arecord: main:828: audio open error: Device or resource busy” appears. But, when I stop the Magic Mirror with pm2, record works. After reboot the Magic Mirror is yet on the top a micro icon and "Ready, “Hello Lucy”. But when I try to ask she, nothing happens. To you have a answer for this?

and you say
‘Hello Lucy’right?
-
@sdetweil
Yes, of course. I tried it again. I shouted into the microphone, although “ERROR” was displayed and Lucy reacted. But when I tried to hide the news, it took a very long time. When I tried to continue, Lucy reacted once out of 10 and in between she always showed ERROR. Can I do something that she understand me better and that the delay is not so long. -
@Linas123 I don’t know. Was just trying to help.
Lots of times users didn’t know to say hello Lucy.
What language do you speak? Sometimes the language model cannot detect the intonation
-
@sdetweil
I speak with a german accent. -
Thank you for all your help and your fast replays. Now it finally works with long charging times, but it works. Whenever I stop the Magic Mirror with pm2, the card for the microphone changes, but I can live with that because soon it will hang on the wall and then I won’t stop pm2.

do you mean response times? (time from speak to action)
charging in english applies to batteries.
what pi device are you using?
-
Sorry, I’am only just 16 years old and not so good in english. I mean response time and use the RPI 3b+.

and not so good in english.
a LOT better than my german!!
wonder what else is running. 3b+ is usually pretty good
do you use SSH to connect to pi?if so, can you do top command to see what is running?
