Hi Kurt,
before you run
npm startyou need to change into the right directory. Default would becd MagicMirror npm install npm startThe
npm installcommand only needs to be run first time after you downloaded the MagicMirror package. If you have already done that you can skip this step. -
@yawns
Thank you for the immediate answer.

Are you working on your raspberry? Or are you connected via ssh?
If you are connected via ssh you need to runDISPLAY=:0 npm startinstead to tell the raspberry to use the display connected to the raspberry instead of the not working ssh connection -
I’m working via ssh, I can see the starter Logo, but thats’it

@kurt you are in the wrong directory again
cd ~/MagicMirror -
I’m in the /home/pi/MagicMirror/config - file
Is this the wrong one?
and what does it mean “cd ~/Magic Mirror” -
your logs show what you are not in /home/pi/MagicMirror/config with the terminal console
if you type in that command you will be in the correct directory
cd means change directoryafter that do
DISPLAY=:0 npm start -
@kurt if you are on
/home/pi/MagicMirror/configthen you have to move one folder up. You can do this by typingcd .. -
WoW
strawberry3.141you made my day!
I’m looking hot, so they say :)
is it so that I have to typ in first the :cd ~/MagicMirrorto get into the right directory, and is this the same I can see in my FTP Client?
Thanks a lot for your help, I’m just happy and thankfull.
Without you guys it would be impossible to get into that projekts so quick.
So I guess this the moment for the beer! Cheers and thank you again.
Now after some break I will start with the adaptions…
Do you have any hints for the best way to avoid problems with this adaption?
What a day
Greetings kurt -
@kurt it’s past 4 o’clock so no reason to drink no beer :D
cd ~ist the same ascd /home/pi/i dont know which directory you are looking at in the client but i guess its the same.
what adaptions do you mean? styling, more modules, …?
-
@strawberry-3.141 I think he means changing his config file and maybe adding in some more modules. So time to get your app up and running :P
@Kurt I would start by first using the default modules (like calendar, time, etc). If you aren’t sure you changed it correctly then you can always just change one thing at the time and make sure it still works. -
Yes, thats what i’ll do. Step by step. just change the rss feed or the compliments (does it matter how many of them you put into the modul?) weatherforcast…
Also Thanks to @tosti007
I feel comfortable in this forum!
@strawberry-3-141 by the way you are working on an hot app? -
@kurt my bachelor thesis is about a mobile app to configure the mirror
cause you are from vienna, you might want to checkout my transport module for vienna https://github.com/fewieden/MMM-WienerLinien
-
@kurt no it doesn’t matter how many compliments you put in. And good to hear that you feel comfortable :) and you’re welcome!

@strawberry-3-141 Hey I allready visit it today! while drifting thru the forum. suprise! I lived in Barawitzkagasse for quite a long time. funny small world, isn’it?
Is the modul allready finished or are still in it? -
@kurt it should be finished
-
@strawberry-3.141
fine , is on my list :)
