      Hello Guys !

I am studying MM to install one in my living room. The goal is to reuse an old laptop screen. On the technical part, I think I do not have too many problems, but it is more on the “mirror” part that I’m in trouble.

Would you have any advice to choose a spy glass that is sufficiently “mirror”? Or what type of film to apply on the glass?

FYI, I live in France, so if there are French on the forum that would have good plans … :)

      Thx for your help

        Hi,
I am almost done making my MagicMirror. I used this:

        https://www.amazon.com/12-Acrylic-See-Through-Mirror-3mm/dp/B01G4MQ5OW/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1485816004&sr=1-1&keywords=12"+x+24"+Acrylic+See-Through+Mirror

If you have access to Amazon then this might help you. You can choose thickness and different sizes. I chose the 3mm thickness because I was afraid that the 1mm would be too flimsy and cause mirror distortion. I am quite pleased with its ability to “mirror”. I don’t know anything about applying film. Good luck.

I’ll post a picture when my mirror is completed.

FYI, I live in New York. I hope you don’t mind getting advice from an American :musical_score:

        Peace

@Mykle1 I bought the 1mm and the distortion is definitely there. From the right angles it looks more like a funhouse mirror. It will serve its purpose for the mirror that I’m building right now, but the next one will be 3mm for sure. The price actually isn’t too bad either.

@ottobot - Good luck with yours. Everything I read, before actually buying the mirror, hinted towards a “rigid” mirror. I wasn’t even sure the 3mm was going to do the trick but I was happily surprised. It’s pretty much plexiglass with mirror capability, and yes, the price is reasonable.
