EoF's Touch Screen Magic Mirror (Testing Phase)

@KirAsh4 Haha basically. It works in my case though, as long as the connection stays secure, since this will be inside my enclosure anyways (once I get around to making one ;)).
-
So a bit of advice: when you have an enclosure (which I hope is sooner rather than later), affix the ribbon cable to something permanent. Even if you want to put hot snot on it (hot glue), just something to immobilize it so it can’t accidentally get snagged on something and get ripped, or that you accidentally pull on it …
-
@KirAsh4 Solid advice! I’m not sure how I would actually go about doing that for this particular cable though… let me show you what I’m working with here lol.
It’s a pretty short cable haha. Of course, it does have a USB controller and other cables that actually run to the pi. I will be sure to secure those as well though.
-
Hrm, yeah that’s short. Though honestly, I would wrap it behind the panel and tape it there. However, it also depends on where the rPi actually sits in relation to where this cable is.
-
@KirAsh4 Yeah that was kind of my idea to too.

A little progress on my mirror! Got the frame build, just need to paint now.

If you can take a video when it’s all complete that’d be awesome. I’m trying to decide if I want to go the touch screen route with mirror film, or just use a mirror. I’m worried the mirror film might look silver and odd compared to a real glass mirror.
-
@geman220 Hi! Yes I will. I just finished painting it (2nd coat), so tomorrow I should be able to actually put it all together.
It will probably be in a new thread btw, since it will no longer be a testing phase at that point.
-
Great, do you have any input on the difference between the reflective film vs a real mirror? I have a feeling the reflective film is going to look more silver / grey almost metallic.

hi there does your touch screen panel support multitouch or just single touch on linux?
also was it shipped with or without glass and did you mount this over the mirror or between the mirror and monitor?
Thanks!
