Module list updates since the beginning of November

Many changes have been made to the official module list since the beginning of November. I have created an overview for this. Since not everyone regularly follows the changes to the list, such an overview may be helpful for some of you.

I don’t know yet if I will create a new list in the future and even maybe automate the process a bit. I am quite up to date of the changes as I am working on a new unofficial module list which is based on the official list.

These are the changes from November 2 to December 12. The list may be incomplete, as a part was a little manual work.

Hi @KristjanESPERANTO . Remind me how it selects the image to display on the unofficial module page? Would like to ensure it shows the correct images for the my Growatt modules. The ones that are showing are not the correct ones as displayed on the Github page.

@mumblebaj Sure :slightly_smiling_face: I have included a brief explanation of this in the README.

If there are several images in your repository, one image is selected according to the following logic: First search for an image that contains 'screenshot' or 'example' in it's name and if none is found, take the first image that is found.

As a heads up, MMM-SFMuniBusTimes (https://github.com/vikramraja1995/MMM-SFMuniBusTimes) no longer works due to Muni switching APIs. I’ve looked at it and have info about the new API but, honestly, I’m like a bumblebee in the deep end of a swimming pool.

Dear @KristjanESPERANTO,
as my module MMM-FrameLight has a ReadMe with a lot of animated GIF images to explain light effects, I created a media branch to separate the media data from the code of the module to reduce storage needs on user systems. Is your code able to check different branches for images or does it only check the master branch?

@RaspiManu There is currently no other way than to insert a screenshot into the code’s branch. There are ideas to solve it differently (like extending the package.json with a URL to the screenshot), but I won’t be able to implement it in the near future. PRs would be of course very welcome :-)

@mumblebaj Thank you for asking! 🙂 Since I want to redesign a few things on the inside, I have not looked for any further discussion for now.

My current plan is roughly this: First make the scripts more efficient (they are currently very storage and time consuming) and then automate the whole process using GitHub hooks and actions. I’ll try to accomplish this in the next few months 🚀

Once I’ve done that, I’ll look for the discussion about the official list.

On this occasion: What is the status of MMM-PGA? 😁 It would be nice if you put at least one of the screenshots into the repository and add keywords in the package.json.
