MMM-SunRiseSet

At my request, our friend on the forum, @cruunnerr, installed MMM-SunRiseSet on his mirror, running Raspbian Stretch Lite and MM 2.2.2. He reports “works like a charm. tried all options. world, map, static…”
Many thanks to @cruunnerr for testing and confirming his results.

Hi Mykle1,
thanks a lot for this great module.
May be you can add some pinhead showing lat / lng.
And maybe there could be some possibilit of zooming.
Thanks a lot

You can make the image larger or smaller via config and css. Zooming is quite another matter. Be aware that the images are renderings, not actual satellite imagery.
Peace

Update
I am happy to report that the certificate issue with the US Naval Observatory API has been corrected. I don’t know if I had anything to do with the fix but I did keep emailing them and the electron team about updating the certificate stores.
MMM-SunRiseSet is now working as intended.
I’m very happy now.

when you asked for others to email them, I did about 5 or 6 times.

Looks really good and I really like it! So I can use either if I’d like? I like the earth as it’s on a black background and it would look cool sitting on my 32" Mirror ;)

Yes, you can use either image. They both update to show the movement of the sun on the earth.
