This post may help you. At the very least, check out the YouTube link and let me know if the graphical errors you’re experiencing are the same.

Config info:
RasPi 3b+
8GB SD card
Running on Rasbian Stretch Lite
Attempting to run using sample config.js
No other installed modules at this point
Attempting to run as either server/client or server onlyWell, I think I’ve detected your problem. From the GitHub page for the Magic Mirror project:
Note that you will need to install the latest full version of Raspbian, don’t use the Lite version.
So. My advice is to pull your SD card and flash the full desktop version of Raspbian Stretch. I don’t think you need the “recommended software” version, but you do need the desktop.
Edited to add: It seems others have similar problems with the latest version of Raspian. Apparently they changed something in the base images. Anyhow, follow this advice and you should be able to get back on track.

RE: Sun VS mirror
FWIW, the professionals at TwoWayMirrors.com sell two way glass specifically for smart mirrors at 30% transparent. I have three of their mirrors and I’m quite pleased with them.

RE: MMM-Snow - Yet another Snow Module
@lavolp3 - Electron has always been a bit flakey with animations. Pardon the pun.
I have 50 flakes running on the office mirror right now and it’s acceptable. But I haven’t upgraded the office mirror to the latest versions yet. If you need, I’ll swing by and check out what version it’s running.

RE: (Pi3ModelB) Flickering display when in vertical mode MM2.5.0
Is it anything like the problems I described in this post? Check the YouTube link for a video of my experience. I did find a solution, eventually.

I would double check that you have a live internet connection from your Pi. Also… be patient. It does take a few seconds for the Pi to reach out and download the code. I would break the commands out separately as well.
git pull
from the MagicMirror directory, followed bynpm install
afterwards. Let us know how it goes. -
RE: Unable to Install on RPi 3 b - unable to install dependencies
@valid8r - My suggestion is to install the latest version of node separately and then run the installation script. Try
npm install npm@latest -g
to install the latest version of the Node Package Manager (npm).Once that completes, try the MagicMirror installations script again and let us know what happens.
cd ~ bash -c "$(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MichMich/MagicMirror/master/installers/raspberry.sh)"

RE: MMM-MirrorMirrorOnTheWall installation issue
@richland007 said in MMM-MirrorMirrorOnTheWall installation issue:
Quick question were do i find the ‘AWS IoT>Secure>Policies’
Policies are modified via the Amazon Web Services (AWS) management console.
You can update the policy by submitting JSON through the API. Or you can use the management console and just duplicate the settings posted above.

RE: HELP to use a cam with MM PLEASE
@axel - Well, if you really want to use the camera, the basic module to use is MMM-Motion-Detection. This will turn the MagicMirror display off & on when it detects movement in front of the camera.
I’m pretty sure there is a selfie module around here that will let you take pictures of yourself. If you really want to get advanced, there’s a facial recognition app that has been used with varying degrees of success.
