RE: Layout and positioning on a tiny screen.
@broberg said in Layout and positioning on a tiny screen.:
Config.js doesn’t really do anything to the layout, it is the index.html and main.css that defines the different positions that you can use.
Hi guys!
It seems like I am blowing the dust off this old topics!
By the way… I am trying to change the postions of some modules and I am having the same issue as @smackenzie5 , first it loads the module where i want to place it, but at the end of the loading it increases the size of the top_bar and place it as default.this is what I’ve put in the custom.css
.MMM-network-signal{
position: absolute;
transform.scale(0,35);
left: 1800px;
top: 0px;
}Is it because it overlaps with the Weather module?

(I didn’t think it would have mattered)…
linux is case sensitive… windows is not
look in the console where u start ed MagicMirror
if pm2, the use the pm2 logs --lines=100 command to view the logs…
the error more than likely is a bad url, ???
I don’t know why, when I closed and Opened again Magic Mirror, it wasn’t working at all; so I started with the backup of the config file and now it is working everything, ticker included. I think that I just needed to remove the default feed (especially the url - I was asking him to load the same feed on both modules -).
Now I only have an issue with the stuttering ticker (but I’ve read something about it so I will try solving it by looking at those posts).Thanks again sdetweil, especially for your patience!

@Giarry88 :8080/modules/MMM-NewsFeedTicker//MMM-NewsFeedTicker.js:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
says file not there
you can get rid of this one by creating an empty custom.css (my installation script does this)
:1 Refused to apply style from ‘http://localhost:8080/css/custom.css’ because its MIME type (‘text/html’) is not a supported stylesheet MIME type, and strict MIME checking is enabled
touch ~/MagicMirror/css/custom.css
so…
I created the custom.css (but I’ve added the command for removing the borders, because I had it in the main.css - yes…i know…my bad :grimacing_face: - also it seems I can’t remove the spacing at the top, but this is a ittle bit OT) now as you said it previously that error disappeared.Now I have only
Load script: modules/MMM-NewsFeedTicker//MMM-NewsFeedTicker.js
GET http://localhost:8080/modules/MMM-NewsFeedTicker//MMM-NewsFeedTicker.js net::ERR_ABORTED 404 (Not Found)
Error on loading script: modules/MMM-NewsFeedTicker//MMM-NewsFeedTicker.jsBut this morning I’ve installed an other module (MMM-networrk-signal) in the same way and it is working properly
Load script: modules/MMM-network-signal//MMM-network-signal.js
Module registered: MMM-network-signalI am confused…
EDIT
My mistake was that I didn’t put capital letters in the name of the folder (I didn’t think it would have mattered)…
Now I can see the red bar with “Loading” and in the console it keeps showing :MMM-NewsFeedTicker - unknown notification, ignoring: CLOCK_SECOND
MMM-NewsFeedTicker - received notification: CLOCK_SECOND -

I’ve nstalled it in the Modules folders (outside of the Default folder, correct?)

It checks the config.js file

RE: MMM-NewsFeedTicker
Hi guys! I know that this topic is quite old, but I am trying to add this module to my magic mirror unsuccesfully.
I added in the “config.js” file the module but it doesn’t show up. Any ideas on what i’ve done wrong?modules: [ { module: "alert", }, { module: "updatenotification", position: "top_bar" }, { module: "clock", position: "top_left" }, { module: "calendar", header: "Calendario di Google", position: "top_left", config: { calendars: [ { symbol: "calendar-check", url: "MY CALENDAR" } ] } }, { module: "compliments", position: "lower_third" }, { module: "currentweather", position: "top_right", config: { location: "Savona, Italy", locationID: "6542009", //ID from http://bulk.openweathermap.org/sample/city.list.json.gz; unzip the gz file and find your city appid: "MYAPPID" } }, { module: "weatherforecast", position: "top_right", header: "Previsioni Meteo:", config: { location: "Savona, Italy", locationID: "6542009", //ID from http://bulk.openweathermap.org/sample/city.list.json.gz; unzip the gz file and find your city appid: "MYAPPID" } }, { module: "newsfeed", position: "bottom_bar", config: { feeds: [ { title: "ANSA", url: "https://www.ansa.it/sito/ansait_rss.xml" } ], showSourceTitle: true, showPublishDate: true, broadcastNewsFeeds: true, broadcastNewsUpdates: true } },
