I think I found the issue, the scenes section for MMM-CalendarExt2 had an error. I discovered it by explicitly looking at errors in the console (and ignoring the many warnings).

@Sean, using some of your modules and enjoying your high-quality and quick support I always wondered about the high level of your commitment. I fully understand that it became too much.

useDisplay: false,Yes. I think this does it. In the beginning I thought it just disabled visual feedback but it seems it actually hides the module. I’ll test it some more and will come back.
