    • Using SimpleLogo twice? (or more)?

      Hi,

      I want to use SimpleLogo more than once, to show different pictures/logos in different places on the mirror. Assuming that is possible, is it just a matter of entering it into the config.js for each use? e.g. The first instance for one picture and the second instance for another picture in a different location at the same time?

      I hope that was clear enough

      @dkoucky

      Well, I don’t know about anyone else but I have a few “insults” thrown in, just for good measure.

      For me:
      “You look like shit!”

      and

      For my wife:
      “You look fat in that dress!”

    • RE: Which type of glass to use ?

      @ottobot - Good luck with yours. Everything I read, before actually buying the mirror, hinted towards a “rigid” mirror. I wasn’t even sure the 3mm was going to do the trick but I was happily surprised. It’s pretty much plexiglass with mirror capability, and yes, the price is reasonable.

      @morozgrafix

      Oh yes, that worked perfectly. I couldn’t wait to get home to try it. Thank you, very much.

      If I may ask: Now that I can see MM running on the Pi3 from another computer on my network, can I merely view it or is there some control of MM that I can use remotely? If so, can you direct me to where I can find those commands? If I should ask this question elsewhere then I apologize. Kindly direct me to where I should ask, if this is the case.

      Again, thank you for your assistance and time and effort on my behalf.

      @morozgrafix - No worries about the delay at all. I appreciate your time and assistance.

      I wish I could try that right now but I have to go to work. I will try the moment I get home and let you know how I make out.
      In any case, thanks for the help.

      “Don’t forget to restart MM app after making this change.”

      I did restart the app, and a reboot when that didn’t work

    • RE: How to set ipWhitelist for all device can acess to MagicMirror v2?

      @morozgrafix

      So sorry to revisit this problem but I can’t seem to access MM on my local network, too. I did what you suggested and edited the ipWhitelist setting in my config.js file. See below:

      var config = {
      	port: 8080,
      	ipWhitelist: ["127.0.0.1", "::ffff:127.0.0.1", "::1", "192.168.1.1/24"],

      	language: 'en',
      	timeFormat: 12,
      	units: 'imperial',

      On my PC (192.168.1.4), I enter the Pi3/MM computers IP address of 192.168.1.15:8080 in a Google Chrome browser window. The browser window reports this:

      This device is not allowed to access your mirror.
      Please check your config.js or config.js.sample to change this.

      Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Peace

      I almost posted the same exact problem but I found this page (thread?) (Whatever), but due to the help you received and your last comment about the private link to google calendars ical, I was able to resolve the issue without asking the question. This place is awesome. :-)

      Up votes for everyone!

    • RE: Mirror supplier in the US

      @l8kerjuan

      Tapplastics.com has a bunch of California locations where you can walk in and walk out with your 2-way mirror, if you choose them. They cut to size right on location. I wish I had that here. I wound up going with the link below the locations.

      El Cerrito, CA
      Fremont, CA
      Mountain View, CA
      Pleasant Hill, CA
      Pleasanton, CA
      Sacramento, CA: Auburn
      Sacramento, CA: Florin
      San Francisco, CA
      San Jose, CA: Blossom Hill
      San Jose, CA: The Alameda
      San Leandro, CA
      San Mateo, CA
      San Rafael, CA
      Santa Rosa, CA
      Stockton, CA

    • RE: Which type of glass to use ?

      Hi,
      I am almost done making my MagicMirror. I used this:

      https://www.amazon.com/12-Acrylic-See-Through-Mirror-3mm/dp/B01G4MQ5OW/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1485816004&sr=1-1&keywords=12"+x+24"+Acrylic+See-Through+Mirror

      If you have access to Amazon then this might help you. You can choose thickness and different sizes. I chose the 3mm thickness because I was afraid that the 1mm would be too flimsy and cause mirror distortion. I am quite pleased with its ability to “mirror”. I don’t know anything about applying film. Good luck.

      I’ll post a picture when my mirror is completed.

      FYI, I live in New York. I hope you don’t mind getting advice from an American :musical_score:

      Peace

      Peppa,
      I don’t know how to thank you. That last edit you made did the trick. I am absolutely thrilled right now. I will take your advice and visit http://jshint.com/. I’m going to add, “Peppa made this happen!” in my compliments module.

      Peace, and best regards,

      Mykle (New York)

    • RE: Adding 3rd party modules help please

      First, let me thank you for assistance. You are most kind. Then, let me apologize that I don’t know how to post the code in that nice frame, as you did. With that, I think I added the code as you advised, yet MagicMirror reported an error in the config, again. I am trying to add the module “planetrise” as shown below. In this case, between “updatenotification” and “clock.”

                  },
                  {
      		module: "updatenotification",
      		position: "bottom_bar"
      	},
      	{
          		module: 'planetrise',
          		position: 'top_right', // This can be any of the regions.
          		header: 'PLanet Rise',
          		config: { // Place the latitude and longitude of your mirror
              		latitude: 45.5,
              		longitude: -122.38,
              		// A dictiory of the bodies and unicode character for the symbol
              		// This is the default and does not need to be listed.
              		// A full list of bodies can be seen on line 1359 in astronomy.js
              		// Note: Trying to find the rise time of Earth will crash the Module
              		bodies: {'Sun': '☉',
                      	'Moon': '☽',
                      	'Mercury': '☿',

                      	'Saturn': '♄',
      	},
      	{
      		module: 'clock',
      		position: 'top_left'
      	},
                  {

    • Adding 3rd party modules help please

      I clone a third party module into my /MagicMIrror/modules folder and NOT into my modules/default/ folder? Where do I add the accompanying code in the config.js file? I’ve tried at the end, just after the last default module code (newsfeed) and I’ve tried at the beginning (before ‘alerts’) and I’ve tried in the middle between various default modules. Most of the time I get the error from MagicMirror that there is an error in the config file. Once or twice MagicMirror ran but no new module appeared (Only the default modules appeared). I’ve been at this for weeks. I’m completely new to all of this and I hope someone has the patience and generosity to help an old guy. I’m amazed at how brilliant you all are. You have made it easy enough for me to get this far. So, please help me if you can. Best regards - Mykle (New York)
