    • RE: What's the best RasPi to use to make a magic mirror at the moment and why?

      I would use a raspberry pi 4 but your need get a good way powering it up as it need a power supple with 3.1 amps

      MagicMirror 2

      I am using a raspberry pi 3 as it easer to get power to the pi but its up to you which one to go with .

      just think of how you going to get right amps to the pi so you only have to use one cable TV Monitor laptop screen with driver board.
      when i did my first magic mirror i solder the wire inside an 3amp power plug that fitted into the back of my mirror you could do that with a raspberry pi 4 plug a spur from the main incoming with to your monitor TV etc.

      anyone have a better way of powering up the pi 4 to tv

      I have not setup your app yet , every time I add the remote file to my config in stop what am I doing wrong

      {
      module: ‘MMM-Remote-Control’
      // uncomment the following line to show the URL of the remote control on the mirror
      // , position: ‘bottom_left’
      // you can hide this module afterwards from the remote control itself
      config: {
      customCommand: {}, // Optional, See “Using Custom Commands” below
      customMenu: “custom_menu.json”, // Optional, See “Custom Menu Items” below
      showModuleApiMenu: true, // Optional, Enable the Module Controls menu

      @lavolp3 Hi my remote install not working
      When l add the file with brackets in the right place
      It stops my mirror as if l’ve put the code in wrong?
      I installed the manual install , copied and past the file into the config file but it didn’t work,

      I have my googlephotos working and my calendar working, and weather.

    • RE: I cant load 3rd party modules to my smart mirror.

      If you have config file copy config.sample
      Start again copy the sample file to your documents and downloads.
      Remove sample from the configuration file
      Start again
      Remember start with {
      Code
      Ends in },

      It’s not always easy to see what’s wrong as the code you are using could be wrong .

      as l’ve not used this module l cannot say
      Keep trying your get their in the end
      If it go wrong it’s easy to start again.

    • RE: Remote control

      Hi l see your having a similar problem as when add the script into my config file it stops l also remove the //
      To position it a the left bottom but it still didn’t work
      I set the IP. 0.0.0.0 and closed brackets []
      Set up any one on my IP address
      But it still no working.

      I know we should get a IP address on bottom of the mirror to type into our phone which open up app controller.

      If any can help us both please reply.

    • RE: Mm-googlephotos

      @sdetweil Hi auto install script Magic Mirror did not work for me .
      So I used the Manual install method and it all works.
      The only Problem I had is there was no custom .CSS folder
      So I had to use the main one . I of course made a copy of it.

    • RE: TV vs. Monitor

      It you get a nice Tv a remote may helpful and if it’s used as photo frame roll over magic mirror and it may have two HDMI socket it can be used a second screen for pc and its cheaper. Most monitors only have one Hdmi in low cost range . If their used as mirror in my opinion if you can get laptop screen with a drive board its best as its so slim . Monitors are slimmer then tv’s but can cost more ,pictures quietly is not an issue a you most seeing the mirror.
      Deciding what best depends on your pocket if you go with glass it’s much better than film the cost between acylic or glass is about 25 pound more if you look around . It’s more about weight it can get very heavy.

      Best thing to is it up a Tv you have and get it all working with add-on modules on the same size your going to use
      Before deciding.

      Hope my opinion has been helpful
